Delgado's

The menu at Delgados manages to cater for everyone whilst still remaining authentic. All their dishes are freshly prepared using local seasonal produce and in addition they import some extra special ingredients direct from Italy itself. It has a vast selection of main meals from the stone-baked freshly prepared pizzas, and authentic pasta dishes, to a variety of steak and poultry dishes, each made with locally produced meat of the highest standard and, to top it all, kids can make their own pizza.

Food, service and value is excellent at Delgados and we can never fault a thing.
Trio of bruschetta is something else.
We love coming here and the grandkids love it too, the staff are very attentive when they try and make their own pizza's - chef hats and colouring to keep them busy while the adults can enjoy the fun.
Very very friendly place.

I live in leicestershire but my family are Warrington / lowton areas and my dad used to use Raj quite a lot until a more local indian opened near him. Every year we have indian for my dads birthday when up visiting and the last couple of years he has used the other one. As we were up last weekend, we decided to have indian as a treat and suggested the Raj as we could collect it on the way to my dads. Placed order not long after opening and was told 30-40 min. I ended up collecting after 20 min but i explianed i was early, however, it was ready and waiting. Great friendly customer service. I was greeted as i walked in, even though the gentleman who greeted me was half way through greeting a dine in customer. I was then greeted by each bar staff who saw me and asked if i would like a drink whilst i waited for them to get my order, or asked if i was being served. The gentleman that brought my order, held open the door as i left. The food was hot and tasty and my dad has said he will be going back to the raj again and not bother with his local take away.

Having had a table booked for 12.30pm on mother’s day, we arrived on time & were seated after receiving a warm welcome. We ordered drinks & soon after ordered our starters & main meals. Pre starters, the tables around us were given little cups, with what looked like a soup in them. Our table were not given any. We were told our main meals (beef Sunday lunches) would take 25 minutes from ordering. Our starters arrived just before 1pm & after finishing our starters we waited 35 minutes for our main meals to arrived. When our main meals had been cleared away, we were presented with the dessert menus & told by our waitress that the manager had advised her that they needed our table in 15 minutes. She then helpfully pointed out the desserts we couldn’t order because they would take longer than 15 minutes. I was gob smacked. As a table of 4 who spent over £150, we were now being rushed off the table. We didn’t drag out the meal out & we didn’t arrive late for our booking. It’s the restaurants responsibility to allow enough time for people to dine. Don’t make customers wait 35 for a main meal & then tell them what desserts they can & cant have due to time limitation. We have dined at this restaurant 5 years running for mother’s day & never have we experienced such a sudden end to our meal. Better planning is needed in the future. Previous years also saw mothers presented with a complimentary glass of fizz, flower or small gift. This year, nothing. Overall a big disappointment on previous visits. We’ll take our custom elsewhere next year.

Reviewed By cheshiredave - Warrington, United Kingdom

We went here for a post-birthday/pre-Mothers Day celebration and weren't disappointed.
Some people struggle to find it. So get your phone or satnav cranked up and we're off...
Locate Victoria Park, Warrington, then enter by the very wide main entrance. 50 metres in, turn left, following the brown tourist sign to Spirit. The one-track road meanders a bit, and is very bumpy. Slow down! And look out for dog walkers.
After about 150m, take the right-hand fork. Daytime, you'll probably see the big white house in the near distance; or it will be floodlit at night in orange. Park your car immediately outside and go up the 5 impressive steps (with no rail to hold onto, if you're a rail person) ...
We were greeted and shown to the bar and a drinks order taken. I think they do this whether your table is ready or not, as we were 7.30-ers,arriving at 7.10, and it wasn't particularly busy, so early on a Saturday evening.
A playing card was put on our bar table, which meant totally nothing to us. We just left it on the table, then it was brought in to our main table later. Weird. But... It's some kind of code that you hand in later to get your coat back. We had the 6 of clubs, so I guess it was a low-value coat. ; - )
We ordered next, and were then taken through, accompanied by our drinks on a tray, to the main room, and to our table. This was after about 20 minutes of arrival time, which was about right for your pre-drinks.
We're not too adventurous in the wacky world of food, so we more-or-less knew that we'd both be having the chicken dish with hash brown. We thought this would be a tiny portion, so ordered extra salad between 2; and fat chips between 2.
We needn't have bothered with the extras. The chicken breast was huge, but perfectly cooked through. Probably the best we've ever had. (Well, there was a place in Skiathos...) This sat on a huge round 'hash brown' - we thought more like potato rosti, but with maybe with rice and veg mixed in, which was very filling. (This felt kind of vegetarian or even vegan, but you'd have to check for yourself.)
There were a couple of sauces with this, and what I think was a strip of leek. All mighty fine, and very filling. No 'tiny portion' tantrums needed, although we're definitely not 'all you can eat buffet ' fans. For alpha-male (or alpha-female) appetites, they do steaks, too. And other stuff.
Tomato / basil / shallot salad with dressing was a bit boring, with the toms not really in season, so a bit hard. But OK.
Chips were large and tasty, and pre-salted. This was interesting: no salt or pepper on the table - ANY table. I thought that was pretty good.
I think some condiment-addicted reviewers have mentioned 'lack of seasoning', but I, normally grumpy about such things, wasn't bothered by this, and felt like that was how the chef wanted to present his handiwork (if that's the right word).
But despite the meal probably being low on salt, I took my high blood pressure medication when I got home anyway, and I'm still alive next morning. ; - )
Mrs Cheshire was now too full for a dessert. So was I. So I just had sticky toffee pudding and chilled cream (but it tasted like ice cream to me) and butterscotch sauce, which I remembered liking from a previous lunchtime meal a few years ago. I WAS really tempted by the hot black coffee shot and liqueur poured over ice cream (which you're supposed to eat really quickly before it all turns to liquid), but the pud won out. Perhaps another time.
(FYi - Spirit don't do lunchtimes any longer - no demand - just pre-theatre early evening meals, if you're money-watching. But no bargains at weekends, including Fridays.)
I'm going back in time now... Mrs Cheshire's starter was cauliflower soup - good, but very creamy and rich, so extremely filling. I helped her out, of course.
My own starter was goats cheese sprinkled with herbs, but it tasted / felt more like Philly cheese than goats cheese. Cranberry-ish sauce, a few cubes of beetroot, and a deep-fried breaded ball of rice / veg - like a mini-version of the hash brown mentioned earlier - so again, probably vegetarian, but you'd have to check. I really liked this dish but I'm a sucker for anything cheesy. And THAT works on so many levels.
Bread was brown, fresh, not square, served with butter, and mighty fine.
This was a special double-occasion, so our bill came to £98 - BUT we'd had a glass of Ayala/Bollinger champagne each (£10 x 2), a large house white, a bottled lemonade, a Martini Rosso and a bottle of zero-alcohol Becks.
In retrospect, we'd have dropped the chips and salad extras, as the main meal was enough. But previous reviews made us think portions would be too small. They weren't.
All-in-all, the evening was really enjoyable.
There was live sax (with backing track) music that Saturday night, which I could take or leave, being a dad-trance or electro-chillout and EDM fan, but it wasn't too obtrusive. Mrs Cheshire, whom I thought didn't really like gratuitous easy-listening sax solos, liked it, however! And she liked the whole evening, which 'made her feel special' - which was the intended effect. So top marks to all at Spirit for achieving the impossible. : - )
I was suited and booted, and Mrs M was whatever the female equivalent of that is. Dressed in her best? She felt slightly 'overdressed' - so it's smart casual dress code, I guess. I don't really notice these things, and I didn't really look at any other tables to scope them out.
Patrons sounded like (I didn't look, remember?) a mixed bunch, which is usually a good sign - couples, tables of 4 or 6, and a big party in the far corner with people aged from 8 to 80. So all are welcome.
Kudos to all the staff, who were polite and 'invisible'. Always good in a staff member.
I hope all that rambling helps. Recommended for those special events. Or for those everyday events, if you can afford it every day. But, as the owner (?) said, it's a "destination" restaurant.
