Where to Eat in Teton Village: The Best Restaurants and Bars

April 14, 2018 Enedina Augsburger

Visitors to Teton Village will find great skiing at Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park. Most tourists stick to the Jackson Hole Nordic Center, which offers great downhill and cross-country skiing, but there are miles of lesser-known trails and black-diamond slopes in the Park for the more adventurous.

We were in Teton Village in late January, and ate at both the restaurant and the bar. Both were very good--try the buffalo meatloaf. In the restaurant, we could see the staff making pizzas from where we were dining. But inexplicably, one cannot order a pizza in the restaurant. One of our group wanted a pizza, so had to leave the restaurant and go over to the bar. It makes absolutely no sense that the restaurant exhibits the pizza-making area but will not let people order one.

Il Villaggio Osteria

Nestled hillside at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort lies the intimate and rustic Il Villaggio Osteria. An eatery reminiscent of the comfortable, community-focused restaurants that pepper the Italian countryside, an evening at Osteria transports, making you feel as though you’ve traveled to one of Italy’s hidden gems – all without the jetlag. A salumi bar, pizza oven and cozy main dining room marry seamlessly to complement the authentic flavors of the expansive menu, while an outdoor fireplace warms during the sometimes chilly Wyoming nights. Led by Executive Chef Serge Smith, Osteria presents a menu perfect for multicourse dining, composed of homemade pastas and pizzas, seasonal salads, and imported meats and cheeses from the world’s finest purveyors.

The menu looks great, and varied, but didn’t live up to expectations.
We ordered entrées of brussel sprouts, some burnt and too much balsamic
The cauliflower lacked the advertised anchovies.
The octopus were good.
For mains the goose confit was not cooked enough, it should fall off the bone, although the lentils and sauce were fine.
The gnocchi and trotter dish was bland.
The portions were big, as is usual in America - so we could not handle desert.
Nice staff.

This is really a 3.5* review because I'm torn... The view here is amazing. It's quite an experience to sit nearly on top of a mountain and sip a drink and eat snacks. But the menu is extremely limited and VERY expensive for the quantity ($16 for 3 slider burgers). It used to be more reasonable but the price has gone up as it became more popular. However, if the view of the valley is what you are after, look no further than The Deck.

Piste Mountain Bistro

Piste is a commonly used French word meaning "a marked path down a mountain for snow skiing and snowboarding." For many, a journey along this type of mountain trail is a reward in its own right, but in the Rendezvous Lodge at the top of the Bridger Gondola, it takes on a new meaning. Introducing Piste Mountain Bistro, cuisine with altitude.

Have been hearing good reports of the burger made from local beef here and I wasn’t disappointed. If you’re skiing or riding the JH Mountain Resort, it’s a cinch to visit. You need to know, however, though listed as open right now on their website, during much of the spring and the fall it is closed. In the summertime, free gondola rides for dinner begin at 4:30. That’s good news because lunchtime diners will be charged. I asked the lift operator how much and he wasn’t sure, “maybe $25 but certainly less than $45.” Comforting to know!
But once you figure out how to get there, to 9,095 feet, the food is outstanding! Burger seemed small to me, maybe 1/3 pound, I didn’t ask. Perhaps it went down so quickly because it was so delicious. The bacon and onion relish and the smoked paprika aioli I made this burger so succulent, the flavor remained with me king after I rode down the gondola.
To be clear, on the day before the mountains closing I was unable to get the Lockhart cattle burger advertised for $22 but instead had a Carter Country burger for $19. It was simply outstanding.

After our trip to the top of the mountain, we decided to grab a bite to eat here since it's at the tram exit. The place wasn't busy at all, only one person in front of us. The person running the register was still in training so it took a few minutes to get our order in. I ordered one slice of pepperoni pizza and my friend ordered one slice of the "Tram Dock" - Italian sausage, bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. Food total was $15. After about 10 minutes, the server brought out our food. Seating is available outside. The tables were clean and already had ice water and glasses on them. The pizza came out hot but was average on taste. The pepperoni was really greasy. The Tram Dock was loaded with lots of onion and mushroom. My friend said it tasted ok. The size of the slices was bigger than a standard slice.
