Rosita

Rosita Restaurant, in San Felipe, Simply the Best!

Reviewed By Calsur - San Diego

Going back over 40 years in San Felilpe, Rosita's brings back memories of strolling up and down the Malecon. Grabbing something to eat, then wandering over to the Miramar Bar. It's right next door to Rositas!
I eat here when travelling and also for my tours/clients. Always a LOT of food, great service, and great prices. The owner Martin is a great guy and extremely involved in improving San Felipe with trees, helping stray animals, beautification projects, etc... His love for San Felipe comes through with his restaurant's attention to detail.
Good for breakfast-lunch-dinner - Martin and his team will treat you right!

Pizza is excellent. Many varieties available. Also burgers, lasagna, salads fries, fried delecaies like deep fried pickles, zucchini sticks and olives. The onion rings are a big hit.

My friends had been there before, so they knew what was good.
They both had the shrimp in creama sause with chipotle.
It was very good.
I had some breaded and butterflied shrimp, it was kind of dry.
There is a Mexican man standing out in front getting the tourists to come in.
I saw Mexican families there too.

Chuy's Place

Reviewed By Dan C - Elk Grove, California

This trip we are trying restaurants we haven't been to before, so Chuy's was on the list. Very friendly staff and good service. The Fajitas were excellent, Mexican Combo was good, and burgers were tasty. Free Clam appetizer was a nice touch. All in all a very good experience-and cheaper that Mickie D's in the US.

Beans and Rice

Reviewed By seafoodeatit2013 - Colorado

This is a fine place to stop for lunch with a the great view as most eateries on the Malacon. The food is (low average) and prices are (high average) Meanwhile the same food items are served at a number of other shops south on the Malacon. Try Taco Factory for open air casual and Baja Mar for pricier menu w/ and semi fancy glassed in

La Vaquita

Reviewed By Elizabeth S - California

La Vaquita is a very nice place to take a group for dinner. The price is a bit more upscale because you are paying for the atmosphere and ambiance. They have tables covered with real table cloths a full bar and nice selection of meal choices. We ordered the Volcano. The menu price is 200 pesos, however when we got the bill we were charged 300. Not sure if it was because we decided to split the meal if we were charged more or if it was an error. The guacamole was excellent. Over a nice dinner. We paid the extra 100 pesos for the volcano, we understand the town is in financial hardship. Everything was very pleasant and I urge people to go and pay a fair tip. This little town needs support and appreciates the tourism.

El Nido Restaurant and Steak House

The ambiance is great. The wine and drinks good too. The food is below average. Grilled fish was actually pan fried. One person in the party got the wrong food delivered, and it took almost an hour to get the right food delivered to him. Everyone in our party (10 people) thought the food was below average.

Taco Factory

Reviewed By Richard L H - San Diego, California

We dropped by the Taco Factory on the Malecón in San Felipe. The salsa was hot and especially tasty, the beers cold, and the margaritas made without sweetener, just fresh squeezed limes.
The shrimp and chips came piping hot to our table, with homemade tartar sauce. We sat and watched the Mardi Gras parade pass by our window seats. Esperanza and Octavio, the owners, made us feel so welcome. Here's a tip: they rent rooms, we got ours for $40, no reservation required.
Taco Factory is a great place to meet other ex-pats, and if you're Spanish is rusty, most of the team speaks English. Recommended.

It's not in every bodies comfort zone to eat in an outdoor venue but I would give this place a try. 1/2 chicken with sides for 2 was about 7.00usd, as I recall. They do not sell beer, wine or alcohol but the cook dropped everything to run and get us a Tecate. Plenty of Seating with a great view being on the Malecon

Stopped in for the Wednesday night mix and match happy hour and it was really excellent. Mix and match is picking any of the following items: taco, tostada, enchilada, Chile Arellano, beans or rice for a dollar each item.... YES $1.00 US each item..... Best deal we have seen in years and the food was awesome especially the Chile rellanos. Drink specials too. Chelo is lovely and her staff is always pleasant and accommodating
