The place was packed when we arrived and we saw only two waiters; so we thought service may be slow. But it was actually very normal. This restaurant is located along the river and open-air, so very pleasant. It was our third visit over a few years. My wife had a laksa, which was very good. I had a sweet and sour fish: excellent. Overall, with two beers, an excellent meal for 72 RM, or $24 CAN. Hard to beat.

Our family of four ended up eating here 3 nights in a row. An amazing array of seafood at very reasonable prices. The oyster pancake (we sampled this dish from 3 different stalls) was unforgettable. This was our favourite place in Kuching out of the many places we visited.

Our concerns about this restaurant located next to a garage were quickly put to rest as we walked through the front door. The decor and water features are most welcoming. We were warmly greeted and seated in the back dining area. Our server was excellent as she patiently explained the menu and made great suggestions. We let her know that one of us is very allergic to shellfish and she revised some of our order to avoid any problems. The food was excellent and there was no push to get us out even though most tables were reserved.

The Junk

The Junk is an eclectic collection of five establishments carefully cultivated within the confines of the heritage buildings of Wayang Street, Kuching. With the proprietors' personal curation of actual antiquities and memorabilia over the years, The Junk houses remnants from days gone by, each with their own eccentric story to tell. Since 2002, the award-winning Junk Restaurant specialises in the fusion of Italian, Western and Asian cuisines. They also offer an impressive list of handmade pizzas, even adding their own twist to conventional toppings. Whether it is an intimate table for two or a party of 12, Junk Restaurant has several dining areas to cater to your needs. Red Room started as an after dinner lounge area. It now serves as a karaoke lounge. In 2006, Junk Bar started as something more akin to a speakeasy. It would be easy to miss this unassuming bar accessible through a hole in the wall from Red Room. Don't let the narrow walkway and rambunctious regulars intimidate you as it is perfect for quieter nights out. Since 2008, Backstage has been one of the most popular night spots in Kuching. On weekends, resident DJs spin through the night. When crowded, it looks like a party in an antique shop. Be prepared to stand as the crowd pours in throughout the night. Choose your poison and dance the night away. If you want something milder, head next door to the newly renovated Living Room. The perfect blend of a lounge and an al-fresco garden, choose to sit by the water Fountain or in the actual living room on the first floor overlooking it.

Interesting place. Mix of interconnected historical buildings with great ambience. It is packed with museum style collections, heritage, junk, paintings, artefacts. They serve good food as well and it is served in huge portions. Great place to have a meal and a chat in a quet and unique restaurant.

Headed to this restaurant on the recommendation of TripAdvisor. The food was good, we enjoyed it thoroughly, however, the staff were not interactive despite efforts from us. We tried to learn about our dishes . We felt rushed out of the restaurant at 9:15. Despite the owner being present there was no intersection. Sad. Also, Deserts brought to the table before the dirty plates cleared and no one asked if we enjoyed our meal. They lost out on a generous tip.

Strategically located near to the waterfront. Most impressive is the price. All items are very affordable here. For those who budget conscious, there cannot be a better place to dine. Service is very good. The lady with glasses does a great job in handling customers. Those from West Malaysia will be happy when they they compare the prices, especially for those from Klang Valley. Couple of tables are made available for sitting outside .
The only drawback is the fruit juice. Too much water is added resulting in complete dilution. Better to order canned drinks or hot beverages.

Topspot is literally the top floor of a multistorey car park. It gets hot, I understand is Halal but you would need to check. Lots of seafood and some chicken dishes. Very busy and not cheap stall food by any definition. Car parking obviously easy and very short walk from all the big central hotels. It can get very crowded.

Small family owned kitchen putting quality and taste high on the agenda. We try to keep our menu short and sweet with guest dishes rotated in for something different. We serve our very own version of Swedish Meatballs with classic brown sauce, fantastic sausages, tortilla wraps with various fillings, and an irresistible Swedish dessert Mockarutor. We are now operating at Food Parade at Saradise, BDC. Our meats and chicken suppliers are halal certified.

This place opens at 08:00 and closes at 17:00 and catered almost entirely for the foreign community with (excellent) Vega, Vegetarian and Meat based foods all priced accordingly - we had a coconut based muesli and a sweet-potato curry with Roti and a couple of juices which was RM$30 - so very good but expensive by local standards. The manager is very friendly and helpful and makes a fantastic Coconut Shake and / or a Banana Shake.
They also have accommodation and also run cookery classes which we did not try.
My verdict: great local food and a great selection of vege and vegan food in a lovely little side street in the centre of town with great staff ..... but relatively expensive.
