We always go by Christiano's on our way to Kohler,Wi. and had never stopped until recently. We will definitely stop again. The pizza we ordered was one of the Special Thin Crust Gourmet Pizzas. The crust was super thin and the fresh ingredients were awesome! We ordered a Medium and was more than enough for our lunch stop.
Our service was provided by Brianne who was pleasant and friendly. Great Stop!

Norton's of Green Lake

Reviewed By snickes - Chicago, Illinois

Norton's was a great place to enjoy a perfect summer meal outside by the lake. You can arrive by car or boat. We arrived around 5pm and had the best seat in the house overlooking the water right by the dock and next to the tiki bar and cornhole competition. Relaxing evening and great people watching. Luckily we were fine with a nice relaxing meal as service was a little slow. I started off with a great martini - they did a great job making me a chocolate mint one even though it was not on the menu...just like a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie :) Next we ordered the appetizer on the specials menu...portabella crab stuffed with cheese sauce and mango puree...absolutely delicious! Next we shared a beet salad and the Barramundi Amandine...they were both excellent as well. When we finally left around 7pm, the place was much busier so I was glad we arrived when we did. A little pricey but a great option in the area if you enjoy summer dining by the water.

My family and I really enjoy an ice cream while listening to music in the park during the summer. This location is perfect for that but also for enjoying anytime.
Tucked behind another building, you will have to pay attention, but when you find it, you'll be glad you did.

Nothing outstanding in any aspect, I will say our server was friendly and efficient, the girl at the hostess stand was a bit uppity when we were told we would have to wait and then we pointed out there were 4-5 empty tables. The food was decent and properly prepared. When in the area we would eat here again.

So here's the thing....my husband and I are "foodies". If I wasn't a teacher, I'd be a food critic. We have eaten in many, many places in our lifetime and we are always on the prowl for our next extraordinary culinary experience. Unfortunately, Grey Rock left us in the dust and completely unsatisfied. So I'll break it down.....

Pros: Ambience- beautiful setting on Green Lake with gorgeous view of the lake. The sun was setting and it was just breathtaking with the floor to ceiling windows. Lovely fireplace really adds a lot too.
Wine List- Grey Rock has an extensive wine menu which includes so many varietals (foreign and domestic). I had a glass of Pinot Noir (Lyric), which was amazing. Excellent bouquet with a velvet finish....to die for. It's an all-inclusive wine list with so many choices; you won't be disappointed!
Piano Music- There was a piano player at the upstairs bar who was really good. Really contributed to the overall atmosphere.
Professional staff- Everyone was very young, but very polite and professional. Our server was a lovely young lady who did a pretty decent job.

Cons- The food. I had a ribeye. It was one of the worst pieces of meat I've ever "eaten" (only ate half, and left the rest behind). I'm not embellishing. My husband had a filet and his was pretty bad too. Both steaks were cooked correctly. However, neither steak had any flavor whatsoever. Nothing. I actually had to put salt and pepper on my steak, which I have never done before. The ribeye was very tough and chewy. Once I chewed it, it had the consistency of a saturated paper pulp. I actually gagged on it at one point. Really, really bad. The cost of the ribeye dinner was $42.00. You can get better steak at Longhorn, Outback, Texas Roadhouse, and Carraba's....and for a LOT less than 42 bucks. The "garlic mashed potatoes" were lifeless and flavorless (added a lot of salt and pepper). They were saturated with butter and were luke warm. The peapods were like chewing on a stick. After I chewing the pod, it turned into a mouthful of dried strings. You know how celery turns into a lump of strings in your mouth if it's too chewy and you have to spit it out because you can't swallow it? That's exactly how these peapods were. I had to spit it out. The salad, however, was really pretty good. Good flavor and consistency.

Table Server- Okay, so as I said above, she was very polite and professional, which is good. But my past experiences with fine dining have always included a seasoned waiter or waitress who really knows the wine list, the specials, and knows how to really deliver top-rate quality service. She was good, but not great. I left 15%, when I normally tip anywhere from 20-25% for a fine dining experience. I realize this is subjective, but it's the difference between good service and great service.

Bottom Line: We went back to the hotel and ate cheese, sausage and crackers. It's the first time that I have ever left a restaurant hungry. We did not take anything with us, and we were both pretty unfulfilled. Would I ever go back for a 2nd chance?? Never.
My suggestion to the owner/s- Get out there to some steak places and try other steaks. Then try your steak from your kitchen. You really need to step it up for those prices. I'm not saying you don't have other good things on the menu, but based on some of the other reviews I've read, I'm thinking you may need to revamp some recipes, flavor your meat, and get in the game. You have a beautiful restaurant that has a lot to offer. Make the food taste as beautiful as your establishment looks. Win-Win!

While the food was decent, we literally froze in the dining room which made the entire experience unpleasant. Putting menus over the vents did nothing. Despite comments from several other diners, they never adjusted the temp or fans. We will not be back.

Chops

Modern contemporary fine cusine located in the heart of Green Lake

Reviewed By woodboatchick - Winneconne, Wisconsin

We ate at Harbor Lights for many years until we noticed that it had closed. Recently, friends told us it had been redone inside and reopened. We made reservations and tried it out this past weekend. The inside is amazing..! Where the old HL was dark inside, Chops is light and upscale. Fortunately, the decorative woodwork was left in place. The walls now have stone and wood, the tables and chairs are all new, as well as the lighting. The bar area was redone as well.
The hostess that night was very friendly and welcoming. Our server was also friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer. Unlike many restaurants' appetizer offerings, this was a substantial plate! Beautifully cut tuna, perfectly seasoned. As you will find with Chops, the presentation of a dish is important to them. For beverages, we had two white wines, I chose a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, my husband had a California Chardonnay, both well-chosen with excellent flavor. My entree was the Lamb chops and I opted to substitute Broccolini,( a hybrid of broccoli, steamed and delicious) for the Truffled Mashed potatoes. My husband chose two entrees, not because he is a big eater, but couldn't decide between the scallops and the ribeye. We have done this before and share all the plates and then have several nights worth of Take-home for the next week. The Truffled mashed were smooth and creamy. The scallops were perfectly cooked with a slightly seared outside. The ribeye was a tender cut, also prepared just right and with excellent flavor. The lamb chops (and I got 4 of them!) were also carefully prepared and done to my taste.

The only negative I have and the ONLY reason that I gave Chops 4 stars instead of five, was that the food arrived only slightly warm. Would we go back? Absolutely! Was the food spectacular and beautifully presented? For sure!! I completely understand that only being open since June, 2017, there are a few things to work out, kitchen to table timing might be one of them.
