We ate here last night for a birthday dinner. The baked lasagna was exceptional. Portions were large and the service was good. Very reasonably priced. We'll go back to eat on the patio when the weather warms up.

I tried a chocolate chip cookie=soft and delicious. I tried a pastry cream filled crossiant and it was wonderful. Tried a doughnut and it as great. Everything I tried was outstanding. They had pies, cakes, cookies and pastries. They offer breakfast and a daily lunch special.

Melvin's Hamburgers and Hot Dogs

Reviewed By MarcW38 - Manassas, Virginia

Their sign says "Since 1938". I can understand why - they have a perfect fast food business model; hot dogs, burgers, chips and drinks. Period. You can get them topped with chili, ketchup, mustard onions and slaw.

It is cash only and the crew is amazingly fast. I had not even put the change back in my pocket before the cheeseburger, hot dog and drink were on the counter ready for me to take to a table.

The burgers are fried on an old school flat top with fresh meat. They have a wonderful crust and after cooking, I'd estimate at about 1/3 pound. The bun was soft and fresh, the onions looked hand cut and the cheese was a slice of good 'ole American cheese.

Now the dog was nowhere near as good as the cheeseburger. It was boiled, not grilled on the flat top (which would have added SO much flavor); it was bland and was a tad small. The chili was also bland. (I did not get slaw on either).

If you go, the cheeseburger is quite nice - skip the dog.

The ice cream was great... just as I remembered when I was a little kid. You will have to wait in line... it's that good! Definitely a must do!

Ambiance is great and servers are friendly but the food was disappointing. We all went for lunch and the Chicken fajitas were overlooked and dried out and the Mexican rice was bland and mushy. The dish overall lacked flavor.

My husband and I have dined here twice. The steaks are just as good (maybe even better) as a chain restaurant. We were happy with our meals both times. We are also thankful that there is a steakhouse in our small town. They offer some good vegan choices as well.

The Cork Room

Reviewed By princetonarea - Princeton Junction, New Jersey

I was part of a group of about 40 bicyclists who stopped here for lunch. The staff was coping with two other events and handled us marvelously. Main dishes were generous and under $10. I had the barbecue sandwich with a big side of potato salad; someone else had a fish sandwich with a huge piece of fried grouper spilling out from the bread. Po boy also got favorable comments. It's a winery, so of course there was wine.
An unusual feature are the animals roaming -- a free-range chicken, a Shetland pony who learned as a baby how to get under the fence and munches peacefully on the grass as you approach.
Don't forget to take a good look at the art on the walls, even in the bathroom. It'll surprise you! And test out the bonding bench out in the yard.
Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery is also a B&B and part of our group stayed in the cabins. I saw one with two rocking chairs on the rear patio facing water ... looked beautiful and relaxing.

For a small town with at least 2 Chinese Restaurants, this is a nice place to hang. Very casual, you step up to a bar of raw veggies and proteins sources (meat) and compile what you want stir fried. It comes out piping hot and the ingredients are fresh. Enjoy repeated trips to the grill for a reasonable fee of less than $10.

Saleeby score is 7/10, better than average.

The last few times we have ordered pizza from here they have skimped on the toppings. After eating real New York style pizza and having something to compare-they need to up the amount of toppings they put on the pizza for the price. They could cook it a little longer too. A large size pizza at Dominoes equals a small size New York pizza.

Tokyo Bistro

Located in a strip mall across from the courthouse... this unassuming Japanese Diner churns out some very nice steak Hibachi. Some of the most tender pieces of steak I have experienced in similar Japanese restaurants about. Goyza (dumplings, but offered fried only, not steamed). Sushi is not bad for an inland, low volume establishment.

Service is quick, kitchen is busy and there is usually a lot of take out and diners in.

Better of the few choices in town. Saleeby score: 7/10
