This restaurant, located just outside the walls of the Almeida fortress is obviously a favorite with the locals. While we ate our late lunch/early dinner there, other tables were filled with working people having their fill of the good, home cooked food served there. We had the daily special - a cod dish prepared with shredded potatoes and cheese in a casserole dish, salad and the vegetable soup of the day. We also shared a half liter of house red wine and a yummy dessert (of which there were many to choose from). All was very tasty and incredibly reasonably priced. Service was with a smile despite the fact that we were obviously eating at the tail end of their lunch hour. Highly recommend.

We were looking for a restaurant near our accommodation and despite a few questionable reviews on TripAdvisor we decided to take chance.
There wasn't a problem. We hit on a quiet night, the service was good, the staff friendly, the food excellent and the price very reasonable. I ordered Bacalhau a Muralha and it was delicious. The only problem was that I was served more than I was able to eat.

This restaurant is located in, and run by, the hotel Domus Real Fuerte de la Concepcion. As such, it is located in a casement and has views of both the central parade ground and the entry area. The fort theme is reinforced by the large group of 54mm hand-painted miniatures of Spanish military uniforms from the 16th through early 19th centuries in a glass case at the entry, and the reproduction Portuguese military uniforms from the Peninsular War era worn by the staff.
One can dine outside in the courtyard if one wishes but the evening was too cool for that to have been enjoyable, and anyway we preferred enjoying the unique atmosphere of dining in an 18th-century fort casement.
The menu is quite limited but what we had was expertly prepared from fresh ingredients and was very tasty. We shared a starter of a mushroom risotto with the Portuguese sort-of cream cheese. Warning, it's a huge portion and quite rich so would recommend sharing. It was delicious and I should say that my spouse dislikes risotto but still liked this one! We followed it with a dish of beef cheek (each, not shared) which although a traditional Portuguese dish was done in a non-traditional fashion, among other things being completely boned, and served as a casserole. This, too, was delicious. We finished with a shared desert. The house red wine was of the region and was very tasty.
Service was friendly and efficient, and the menu had English translations. Good, because the staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, but their English was so poor that when they tried to answer questions they usually inadvertently misinformed.
Why not a five? The price was not totally unreasonable but was on the high side for what we had. Also the menu is too limited in terms of options to get a five.

We went there before Xtmas 2014. The food is great, tradicional and with a fair price. The restaurant is really nice. I really enjoy it. It has a good variety of dishes, however some you can only have them if you order in advance. Since it is a restaurant in a small place it is understandable, not at all a problem as you have plenty of choice. From the dishes we ordered everything came excelent.
Carefull at dinner time, as it closes early (for Portuguese standards) and I am not sure if on sunday evening is even opened.

My husband and I just stopped by Almeida Fortress and had lunch at Talmeyda. Loved the cod salad, so simple and tasty accompany with delicious tomatoes. We also ordered ham that came cut by knife and was sweet with the right amount of saltiness....bread was great quality too. We sat outdoors and spent our time watching people go by, playing with the cat (and feeding it) and enjoying delicious food.

Located in the historic center of the village, typical portuguese food, vast choice of artisan beer, regional wines, organic products such as fruit and vegetables
Um espaço agradável e ambiente acolhedor. Distingue-se pela variedade de cervejas artesanais portuguesas e produtos biológicos e regionais. Gostei bastante dos petiscos. Quanto ao atendimento 5 estrelas. Recomendadissimo!
