Ski Areal Spicak

We reserved a week in one of the local hotels. Many accommodation options can be found on TripAdvisor and Booking.com and most of the owners speak English or German. Prices are far cheaper than in Germany. There is a great selection of slopes. Parking is right at the slopes and it is free. Beginners can ski using the point system, which saved us a great deal of money by paying only for the low-cost bunny hill rides the beginners used. Skis and snow boards can be rented right at the bottom of the hill. They were good quality and the full rental includes boots, skis, poles and a helmet. The prices are listed on the website. The town provides a great variety of accommodations and a number coffee/sweet shops (Cukrarna), two grocery stores, large gas station, etc. For a short trip to a bigger town you can drive to the picturesque town of Domazlice, where you have a selection of restaurants and shops. There is no shortage of restaurants in Zelezna Ruda, though, not to mention a very convenient restaurant right at the ski areal.

Worth the visit, also outside ski season. The view from the top is huge, and there also some trails to walk on.
The chairlift itself could be exciting and not exactly for those with acrophobia: there are one-person-chairs with a short security bar only. On the other side, we've climb on it to the top with 3-years-old on laps without any problem.
Actually, there chairlift if divided into two parts, about 10 min. each one.
