The Poppi cadtle is well worth the visit. You can rent voice guided headsets for the tour. There is a fabulous view of the wonderful Casentino Valley area which is off the beaten path for tourists in Tuscany. The village is lovely with wonderful churches to see. In the summer are often Concerts in the castle and village but you need to enquire locally, pick up the Eventi guide at the tabac or other shops in the lower village, its unfortunately poorly advertised.

The Vallombrosan church was cause for widespread superstition. In fact all the city and perhaps the entire valley knows that part of the church and the monastery and cloister hearsay women can not linger for the night. Supervening ghosts with vallombrosian cassocks to disturb the woman who dares to spend the night under strictly relevant to the friars Order.
Many testimonies of people still living like former Librarian of Poppi author of a temporary exhibition in the late '80s and many more to medium high culture people.
Even in December 1994 there was another phenomenon in which there was a rush of people to see the bells move dramatically but without sounding as the clapper remained motionless; said it was the Spirit of Tommaso Crudeli he did it to show the happiness of the just ended conference where the speaker was the most highly renowned Roberto Gervaso in the birthday anniversary of the poet tortured for heresy.

Chiesa della Madonna del Morbo

We parked the car below the historic centre and walked along the medieval pedestrian track that leads to the old town via an archway, then along the colonnaded walkway, before being captured by the small hexagonal church with large clock on the front, and a charming Fountain in the foreground. It is a beautiful small church easily visitable without many restrictions. Inside is a lovely Madonna with Child painting by Filippo Lippi.
Highly recommended as a starting point for a visit to this beautiful town.

Nice monument, great view of the valley behind it. To get a good photo, you need to climb up the hill a bit.

Reviewed By digioma1 - Monza, Italy

Ok it is only 7 euros to get in, but you get no information leaflet and you have to go about half way round to find any sort of layout of the place and signs to the toilets etc are virtually non existant. Many of the compounds either had no animals in our they where hidden from view, and those that did the animals didn't look very happy, especially the brown bear. The place doesn't look well looked the toilet was awful and when we were leaving the chap at the main kiosk started playing on his electric guitar!

Golf Club Casentino

The Casentino Golf Club is locate on a panoramic and beautiful hill at about 500asl. From this point one can take in the entire Casentino Valley, the first valley of the Arno River, the green heart of Tuscany and the home of the splendid National Park of the Casentinese Forest. This is an ideal location for those who want to test their technical skills on the green and every hole is unforgettable

We played nine holes here, though they are a year or two away from adding another nine. Good weather helped, but the views were fabulous, the service was really friendly and intimate, and the course was in very good shape. It's a technically challenging course but also friendly for the high handicapper. We played two courses in Tuscany, and this, like the other one (Ugolino) was characterised by being on a hillside and having to play for the effect of the downhill roll. Very helpful staff and good value.
