Tobogganing Park

Reviewed By O_kocim - Manchester, United Kingdom

Such great fun going down different slopes! I had a brilliant time when I went there. Each slope has a number assigned depending on the steepness so you will definitely find one (or a few) you feel comfortable with. Or start with the 'easy' one and move up! If you are really brave you can go for the most challenging one - at the end of it you leave the ground and land on a big airbag. This one is not covered by your standard ticket, but it's only a couple of franks more and you can buy the additional ticket after one of your rides. Great place in a great location.

One tip - don't just sit down in your toboggan and go, wait for a member of staff to direct you.

Berneuse

Reviewed By arkajeetdasgupta - Kolkata (Calcutta), India

To reach Berneuse I took the train from Aigle to Leysin Village. This trip in itself is a visual treat. The cable car from the station is a walk downhill and totally worth it. The cable cars although do not have too clear windows, still the view up to Berneuse is astounding. From the top one can simply enjoy the beauty or have a couple of drinks or take a bike ride/hike down to the lake(was empty when I went there, bikes are available on rent downhill in front of the cable station). This as I came to know is a good skeing spot but unfortunately that had no utility in September(there was no ice and the skeing cable naturally did not ply).
You can simply sit there and relax while enjoying the beauty,
Tip - The tobacco ad on the hill is a must see, no idea how they did it.

Le Jardin de Gentiana

Reviewed By Veni_bibi_edi - Cirencester, United Kingdom

This garden is the medicinal plant garden of the Gentiana foundation. Hence there are many varieties of gentian to see as well as herbs and other plants.
It is recommended that you park in the car park of the sports and toboganning centre. You will see a notice board about the garden near where you drive into the car park. From there it is a 15 minute walk down steps, road and track to the garden. As some parts are rough you may want to wear walking boots.
It is open only during summer and not on Mondays and there is an entrance fee of four francs per adult.
We visited on a delightful sunny Sunday and a young family of volunteers were there to open the garden and take the entrance fees. The garden isn't large but it took us quite a while to go round as we read the labels on many of the plants and the boards describing the various areas of the garden.
There is a small selection of plants on sale. The view is excellent, one can see down into and over the Rhône valley and you may see the train climbing its way up the hills.
Very relaxing and informative.

Tour d'Ai Trail

Reviewed By proftourist - Clermont, Florida

Ever thought about trying mountain climbing? Want to do it the safe way? Yes?
First rent the equipment for Via Ferratas (helmet, climbing harness and a Y-shaped lanyard with progressive-tear energy absorber) in a sports shop in Leysin. Then take the cable car to La Berneuse and find your way up to the start of this climbing route which is well documented on the Internet. You can do it solo if you know what you do, but preferably go with someone who has done it before.
You will be rewarded by the sports side of the experience as well as the view of the alpine landscape and the Lake of Geneva in the background.
After reaching the peak of la Tour d'Ai come down taking the "normal hiking route" to Leysin or La Berneuse.

I highly recommend Getting Mayen Tours to show you around this amazing area. Our guides were knowledgeable about the culture, food wine and history They know the right places to visit and the locals to see. We went skying, snowboarding and hiking on our tour. They took us to a fabulous Sky/snowboard/bike store where we rented the perfect gear for our adventure. This area is scenic and everywhere you look there is a post card picture opportunity. Be sure to bring your camera and plenty of memory cards.
I love Switzerland and will be back for more adventures with Mayen Tours in the near future
