Galileat

Are you travelling in Israel and looking for something off the beaten track? Galileat brings you different types of activities that the whole family will love.Makluba, Hubeza, Sinya…Maybe you've heard the names but never realized that it's authentic Galilean food. Galileat gives you an authentic experience that will make your trip to Israel an unforgettable one. We will show you Israel through the eyes, and palate, of a local. Our culinary adventures allow the participant a hands-on, true to life cultural immersion. It is a unique experience, unlike anything else you've ever done in Israel. You complete one of our cooking workshops having learnt how to cook something that you might, or might not have heard about , having eaten what you prepare with your host, and will understand a little better how people live in the rural Galilee. Oh, and let's not forget…it's a whole lot of fun!!!We have Druze, Moslem and Christian hosts, all of whom exemplify the middle-eastern custom of hachnasat orchim; warmly welcoming guests into their homes. The day starts (after tea and coffee, of course) with approximately 3 hours of hands-on preparation of traditional dishes. In the winter and spring, it is many wild greens, picked fresh from the fields. Late spring and summer, frikki (smoked green wheat) is on the menu. The menu changes seasonally, in keeping with the cycle of life in the Galilee. Once we have finished preparing the delicacies, we all sit and enjoy our feast. Culinary tourism is not just about good eating. That you can do at home. It's about exploring foreign cultures through taste, smell and experience.

Paul was so amazing and enabled us to communicate with Roudena and her family despite speaking different languages as well as explaining to us the different cooking techniques we were using and giving us his expertise!! This was absolutely amazing and a must for anyone wanting an authentic experience that is not something you would normally do! Thank you so much Paul for making this possible!

Place to admire amazing geological formations of limestone formations as a result of long processes and pressures which took place underground. There are four different and well indicated trails here which intertwine with each other: the Mamutot trail, the Ya’aron trail, the Har (Mount) Sneh trail and the Katlav trail. Some longer and some shorter. You can get food at the nearby village of Kisra.

Big Karmiel Shopping Center

Located on the eastern entrance to the town of Carmiel, the BIG mall ‎provides a worthwhile shopping experience in a range of categories: food, ‎cosmetics, pharma, optics, toys, houseware and gifts and of course – the ‎leading fashion brands in one place. The large and spacious stores ‎encircle a huge parking lot at no charge. Enjoy excellent service at the restaurants and cafes while you're there

It's your average outdoor large strip mall with the usual Israeli chain stores. Not a big deal.
Try to avoid evenings and weekends unless you love busy parking lots.
Only positive note is that it shows in real life how well Arabs and Jews coexist especially in the Gallilee.

The park is a large open park with many sculptures throughout the park. There are stairs to walk down into the old Quarry which has paths where water lilies grow along with water reeds and wild grasses with dripping waters from the fall and craoking of frogs. We were at the quarry at night so the visual beauty is not seen and would be more appreciated during daytime. There is also a memorial dedicated to the journey of Ethiopian Jews to Israel. The park is fee, no entry charge, however there is limited lighting and is better to go during the day. The area is great for picnics, the view from the lookout point of the surrounding areas is beautiful.

Dropped by the Kishor Winery while we were driving around northern Israel. What a great place. They showed us a video which explained how the facility worked. Essentially this facility includes a winery, a place that makes bread and cheese, a kennel and stables. It is staffed entirely with people with disabilities who all work and contribute as a team. This facility looks after all their needs for their entire life cycle. Very inspiring.
After the video we sat around with the manager sipping on some very good wines. This something worthwhile supporting.

Took 3 small kids from age 5 to 6 & 6 and a 14 year old ( Autism) and really decided to check it out as the photos looked great. Never imagined we would be there for hours. The place is real cool, the assistants more that helpful and amazing their levels of understanding considering the kids has all different levels of ability. Safety was great and the youngest child who was very overwhelmed at the beginning just did not want to leave. Great little coffee bar and milkshakes and the only problem was getting the kids out
