Great free museum. Plenty to interest children and adults. Child sized planes and full sized real cockpits for kids to sit in. Friendly, knowledgeable volunteer staff happy to show kids how things work and to tell their stories. Sensible shop with pocket money to medium priced souvenirs. On site free car park with planes taking off and landing from the airport. Open weekends plus Wednesdays during school holidays. Well worth visiting and a generous, voluntary, donation.

Visited this museum while in Gloucester. It was only 4 pounds and was a great way to spend a couple of hours. The history is amazing, lots of articles and artifacts to see and touch. They had an area where you can try on the different soldier uniforms which is great for kids and adults. They have different sections that tell about the different years and soldiers and wars, it was all so interesting especially if it is an area of interest. This museum is also right in the heart of the Gloucester Canals and Quay, so make sure to take the time to walk around the area as it is beautiful and full of activities, shopping and history! It is also within walking distance of the Cathedral which is downtown.

The ground is a "must" visit for any rugby fan. It is a rugby city and the raucous atmosphere is something to experience. Standing in the Shed is the best way to hear the local "commentary" on both the opposition and the officials! An enjoyable evening even though Gloucester surrendered their long unbeaten home run!

An interesting museum/gallery that focuses on various media that all display the beauty of nature. When we visited the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition was on and the images were a mixture of fascinating, beautiful, disturbing. There is also a changing exhibition of artworks in the collection and a separate exhibition area for the artist in residence. On a good day you can wander around the Gardens, which are dotted with all sorts of sculptures as well as the flowers and borders.

Gloucester Docks

Reviewed By TravellingTeacher123 - Gloucestershire, United Kingdom

I have regularly visited the docks and love going there for a hot summers day or on a night out. It’s great to pop into a bar or pub in the Sunshine or visit one of the many cafes. Being next to the Quays, you have shopping at your finger tips but I’d recommend walking around the docks. There is a nature reserve just over the bridge near Dr Fosters which is lovely in the Sunshine.
The docks at night time is a safe and enjoyable place to be with friends. As it’s a residential area, all the facilities shut at 11pm which is slightly disappointing but completely understandable.
Overall, there are some lovely walks along the canal and you can take some great photos. If you’re visiting Gloucester, this is a must!
Also, take note of when there are events taking place, I’ve been to many from the tall ships festival to the Christmas markets and would recommend all!

Gloucester and Sharpness Canal

Visited Gloucester for the first time yesterday,I found the quay area similar in design to the Albert dock Liverpool ,and just impressive with a good amount of shop's,bars& restaurants,
A nice pleasant walk around the quay& along the canal.
I then visited the Cathedral which I found again impressive in design and marvel how architect's designed & built it without the technology available today, there was a lot of work being carried out on the exterior of the building but nevertheless enjoyable.we then walked all around the town.
And this is all we had time for in this visit but a return is definitely on the cards

Most of the Time, this place is quiet. There are a few nice shops to do some shopping at reasonable prices. The place is too big and it feels empty. It could do with a second floor as it it just a waste of space. But nevertheless, a great place to do some shopping in shops such as Asics, Nike, GAP.

I live in the Cotswolds. Cheltenham is worth a visit for shopping, the racecourse, lovely parks (Pittville park is stunning) and beautiful surrounding countryside. Visit Gloucester for the Cathedral and the docks. Tewkesbury has some lovely little shops and canal walks. The Forest of Dean is a great place for walking, cycling and beautiful scenery along the rivers. and it's worth visiting some of the lovely Cotswold villages such as Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold
