Bright's Antique World

Bright's Antique World is 35,000 Square Feet of Antiques & Uniques! Enter our climate controlled store where the aisles are lit by street lights and our booths are set up like store fronts. But.....1st off Folks! WE ARE AN ANTIQUE MALL! DO NOT stop at our store expecting new collectibles, shabby chic (there may be a few pieces), batteries, jams & jellies, WE DON'T HAVE THEM, and if that's what you are looking for, you will not find it here. Riley and I built our store on a cow pasture, literally from the dirt up, and opened our doors in 2003. We didn't have enough money, so we started with 1 building. The next year we added another building, and a few years later we attached our last building, bringing the total square footage to 35,000 sq. ft. We carry everything related to antique, vintage, retro with just a little junk and collectibles in the mix: antique furniture, vintage sports items, postal & trade cards, tons, tons of costume jewelry, vintage hats & clothing, old glassware, old & reproduction signs, Old & newer Fenton, Fostoria, Sterling, silverplate, old pottery, vintage Christmas, Vintage and Antique Books & magazines, comics, old toys, collectible toys, old coins, etc. We are very proud of our little store, and our antique dealers take pride in their booths and what they stock. We invite you to come on in, say hello, stay a spell, and take home some treasures. For your convenience, Layaway is available and all major credit cards are accepted. If you do decide to review our mall, please do not review us if you do not like antiques, that would be unfair. As I stated above, we are an antique mall, voted one of the best throughout the years by the Busy Bee Trader. Thank you and we hope to see you soon. Directions: Traveling North from Nashville: I-65, just across the KY state line and turn left off KY exit 2 and drive to the first traffic light, you will see McDonalds, turn left, (this is STEELE ROAD) go past Oasis on left, Simpson county tourism cabin & Cracker Barrel on the left and the next drive past Cracker Barrel on the left is ours. We are the Blue Building with the Red Roof: Bright's Antique World open: Mon-Sat 9-8 & Sun. 10-6 closed: Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas we close at 3pm on Christmas Eve.

This is a huge building with more little antique booths than I can even count. We enjoyed wandering around and explaining "what's that" to our teenagers. The clearly have a theft problem here, unfortunately.

The folks who worked there were nice. we were so happy they were open until 8:00pm so we could browse at our leisure after supper.

Sumner Crest WInery

Sumner Crest Winery has over 20 wines made right on the premises. Wine tasting daily. Large boutique style gift shop. Homemade Chicken Salad, Pimento Cheese and Fuit and Cheese Plates available for lunch on the patio.

After stopping at a rest area on the way to Nashville, we heard about this place from a guy there. It is not too far off the exit. The place has a great charm! The staff was very friendly. We tasted many wines and they were very enjoyable. Not only is it a great place to taste wine but it is also a great place to shop for"wine-like" items. Be sure to not just stop to taste. Look around! They also have a very cute room for small weddings or showers. Well worth the stop if you have time.

This is an out of way location shop to visit but well worth the drive. There are a lot of unique items to look at and purchase (depending on the season the items rotate) and the staff is super nice. The inside of the market is pleasing to the eye and if you can’t find a gift for a loved one, shame on you, there is so much to choose from.

A beautifully kept historic complex. The history of this religious sect is very interesting, along with the craftsmanship and agriculture abilities the residents exhibited to sustain themselves. The complex is not as large as Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, KY but worth the trip to visit. Enjoy!

Octagon Hall Museum

Reviewed By TravelinMaggieJ - Winchester

I've been wanting to visit the Octagon for years, and when we planned a weekend getaway to Nashville, this was going to be a must stop on the way! It was late morning, sunny, with a cold wind when we arrived. Ours was the only car there. After walking the grounds and listening to that cold wind whip through the bare trees, the owner and employees arrived. They welcomed us and told us to come on in, just like pulling up at a relatives house. You enter the museum at the back porch, and as soon as you walk in you are surrounded by tons of history. We were given a short verbal history of the Hall and then sent on our way to explore every room at our own pace. Once we toured all the rooms, we were invited to sit at the huge old dining room table by Billy along with his friends and family. They were all kind and personable, chatting with us like old friends. They have worked many years at restoring the place and filling it with wonderful historical items. We loved our visit and would love to go back!

Simpson County Archives and Museum

We stopped by the Simpson County Jail and Historical Society while we were sightseeing around the square in Franklin. The guide was polite and informative, and they had a lot of history on display. It is similar to most small town historical museums; there wasn't much that made it stand out, but we did enjoy it and had a nice visit.

Old Friends at Kentucky Downs

Reviewed By JillA976 - Lancashire, United Kingdom

Opened in 2015, this is a new branch of Old Friends, the non-profit organisation looking after retired racehorses. It is situated about a mile from Exit 2 of the I-65 & is adjacent to Kentucky Downs Racetrack. Set in lovely countryside it looks after several sleek retired horses. A volunteer guide takes visitors to various paddocks where you can feed these lovely animals carrots and take photos. Each horse has their own story & some have only just avoided a less favourable ending to their lives. Whether you are a horse racing fan or not, you can't help but be impressed by the good work that is taking place at Old friends.

We visit family during the summer and always try to take in one of the movie nights outside. The ice cream is delicious, and sitting on blankets in the grass is reminiscent of old drive-in movie theaters. Great way to spend an evening with family! Good for young and old alike.

Kentucky Downs

We paid $50 each for the 'Directors Club' seating and buffet. WHAT A RIP!!!!!
The food entrée's were barely lukewarm (roast beef and chicken breasts) . The iced tea ran out at 3:00 PM and was never refilled. The guests remaining had dwindled down to a small handful, most of whom probably did what we did and that was to go down onto the grass along the rail where you could actually see something. Sad, sad rip off of guests. Guests were seated 8 to a table that should have held only 6 at the most. The view from the small windows down onto the track and tote board was very inadequate. The tote board size in the infield was so small you couldn't read the odds without binoculars. Not all of the indoor tv's in this room were working which was really the only way to see what was happening on the track and tote boards. The racing events were enjoyable but in the future stay away from the pricey, costly low rate buffet and lousy indoor upper club seating.

The casino was also as tight as dick's hatband. The money from casino losers is what they must place into the racing prize money.

Took part of an afternoon to visit this antique location in Franklin, Ky. Upon entering was greeted by three friendly staff members who were more than willing to offer their help in guiding us to locations throughout the building to find things of our interest.

There are cases and cases, booths and booths of all sorts of items and lots of very interesting furniture to view. A fun place to spend the afternoon.
