Gomsrud Park

Gomsrud Park is Fairmont's most popular park, with boat docks, lake swimming, picnicking areas, and sand volleyball courts.

I'm a traveling Ob/Gyn (drcathylbagleydotcom)in the area on assignment. Yesterday I had but one simple request: to find a scenic spot to eat my bagged lunch and an afterwards stroll. Locals pointed me in the direction of Gomsrud Park stating it was their most spectacular lakeside park. Curious, I obeyed ordering my GPS to oblige! Onward to Gomsrud park we then ventured...

Fairmont, MN is so named the city of lakes... befitting considering whenever and wherever I wandered, there was lakefront sweetly wedded to breathtaking scenery... a most spectacular paring! The park had BBQ and picnic areas, a large kids play area and its trails extended under a road overpass to the other side for extended viewing, walking, bicycling and dining in an local favorite bar/restaurant known as The Channel. However, STOP and refer to my review on this eatery!

Gomsrud Park, where I wandered is a great place to stroll, play, write, exercise, meditate, propose; hold hands making all kind of plans, like, arranging first dating site rendezvous... only in warmer seasons though! Surrounded most sides by water, and in Minnesota's harsh cold climatic temperatures, you'd become a popsicle fast even in the thickest moonboots and parkas! Brrr.

In closing, I don't wonder, I know you'll enjoy wandering in Gomsrud Park, too!

Built in 1901 and they believe it it is the oldest theatre in operation in Minnesota. Has been restored and has a lot of interesting features. They have a variety of events although most of them are music related. We thoroughly enjoyed the Ole and Lena play and hope they make a return appearance!

This is where you go to see the 1880's. House, barns, silo's, wind mill, church, hand made cabin and then you see the caboose with train station and the inside/outside stored farming equipment refurbished and not....don't miss the working gardens outback and area's to picnic.
This is a place to learn.
