The Water Conservation Garden

Reviewed By Susan B - El Cajon, California

The Water Conservation Garden is part of Cuyamaca Community College. It is a beautiful garden planted with an amazing collection of specimens that are adapted to this area and require very little water. It also has great explanations of the difference in water needs of different specimens, instructions on composting, fire safety plantings, and even has classes available for gardening instruction. It has a small gift shop and an amphitheater for group presentations (periodically local agencies give lectures and people even hold weddings here). It is free, but there is a suggested donation. I visit every 2-3 months to get ideas.

Lake Murray

Reviewed By jeepers13192016 - Spring Valley, California

The lake is a reservoir tucked in between residential neighborhoods. The lake offers fishing and kayak rentals. Most people go to the lake to walk, bike, or jog the paved path. The path does not go all the way around the lake. The path ends at a chain link fence. At that point you turn around and return the way you came. There is a lot of parking available at several different parking lots. This is a very popular location on weekends. There are picnic tables under the many eucalyptus trees.

Sycuan Casino features different musical groups in its dedicated theater. It recently featured "Under the Streetlamp", a great quartet that sings Oldies but Goodies from the 1950s-1970s. So one can do more than "gaming" (aka gambling) at the casino. Its Wachena restaurant features a wide variety of cuisine including American, Thai, Filipino, and Chinese. The waiters and waitresses are friendly, and their wine glasses for white wine come nicely chilled. Check out the Casino for its music offerings and food variety!

This micro-brewery is really neat. The decor is really cool, kind of old western. Very large inside and an open atmosphere. There is an outside area that is done up pretty nice, fountains, tables, etc. Also kid friendly as they can play outside. Located really close to the Santee Drive-in as well.

They don't serve food here but don't worry, they schedule gourmet food trucks to be there every day. The food on these trucks is amazing! Not what you'd think at all. Check out their Facebook page to get an idea of the food selections that they usually have on the trucks.

Ok so the beer is always subject to opinion right? I loved it. I'm not a heavy drinker or anything but I really liked the taste and I tried several. Put it this way, a certain type of person goes to micro-breweries. I guarantee there is at least a few beers here you'd think were amazing. I'll leave it at that.

We will be back for sure and I'd recommend you try it...
