Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Masjid (The Grand Mosque in Cotabato City)

Reviewed By doreentheexplorer - Cebu City, Philippines

I didn't known such majesty existed in the Philippines until our family visited this mosque. It is located on a barangay in Cotabato City. We hesitated to get inside the mosque since we are Catholics but the person incharge gladly said it was ok as long as we follow the muslim dress code. We rented malongs and shawls in a rental store just across to cover our hair and exposed skin. Most visitors were Muslims. The place was splendid! It felt like we were in another muslim country lik Dubai or Saudi. It was such an experience worth remembering:)

Also called the Peoples Palace, the seat of the Cotabato City government is also a popular tourist destination due its Moro-inspired architecture. It is located in an expansive lot along Barangay Rosary Heights. Nice to go there before sunset to take fotos.

Tamontaka Church

After Reading some of the reviews on-line on this church, had to see it for myself. There wasn't really much to see but they say it's a historical landmark. Walking either from the Tamontaka bridge or the Husky terminal, one will not miss this church. Just look for the arch by the highway.

They have a temple on top of the hill..I find the rituals bizarre - a very unique experience.. Outside, you can interact with a lot of monkeys! They are just free roaming around the place.

I've been to other barter trade centers and this is just a simple one compared to the others. One can walk to this area from Jollibee drive Thru along the highway/main road. They sell the usuall stuff like garments, hats, scarves, household utensils etc. Be sure to ask for discount.

Kutawato Cave

Reviewed By Denise T - Davao City, Davao City, Philippines

I was enthusiastic to visit this cave along with a German colleague, and brought our cameras. To my dismay, there's nothing there, except for stagnant water, foul smell and garbage. They used it as there toilet while maybe having a checkpoint. This used to be a hideaway of drug addicts, before a checkpoint was made.
