Burlington Bike Path

Converted from the Central Vermont Railway to a bike path in the 1970s, this easy trail crosses through beaches and parks and offers great views of Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks and the city.

My wife and I cruised this path from Burlington to the ferry. The Ferry was discontinued for the season. There was plenty of variety with views of the lake, riding through quiet neighborhoods and at the ferry landing there views of the distant mountains. There are a number of park benches along the path.

Took a guided tour of the facility, and were rewarded with some really fun design elements. This is really a youthful, fun environment. Naturally, you'll get to see the mechanics of producing the many products, but the surroundings and people who work there make it a great time. Stop at the bar at the end of the tour, and sample a variety of brews. To create memories, take some growlers home to enjoy later.

This was a bucket list adventure for me, and Jeff our pilot made our flight very special and entertaining. Safety was a huge priority. In spite of difficult wind conditions that gave us an extra long flight due to challenges with getting to a good landing location, we felt well taken care of at all times. And the post flight champagne, cheese and crackers were a lovely touch.

We were a group of 4, aged 18 to 50. We did the Pirate one & Taken. Very challenging but great fun. Very highly recommend. Excellent staff. Needed the clues, and did escape both times, with mere seconds to spare. I would recommend at least 4 but no more then 8 people. Telling all my friends to go here. LOVED IT!!!! Most fun I've had in a long time.

The two restaurants do not overlap but complement each other; one with light tavern affair and the other with fine culinary cuisine. Enjoy the local brews at the tavern. The hotel has many amenities though I was unable to utilize them.

I recently spent a day cross-country skiing for the first time. We went on a Friday and there were only 2 other people there. It was a clear day with blue skies which made for a really beautiful day. We rented our skis and boots there which was convenient.

The property is simply breathtaking. I have to agree with the other reviewer that the trails aren't really marked properly. We spent the first hour going in circles and backtracking to find the beginner's trail. It was worth the search though. The trail wound through the woods and it was so much fun.

1st Republic Brewing Company

1st Republic Brewing Company is a great microbrewery in Essex Vermont. We brew up a great variety of beers for everyone to enjoy. We are also the largest homebrew shop in the state of Vermont. Stop on by for a flight or pint. Cheers!

Reviewed By xyzsd7fg3- - Concord, New Hampshire

I have seen and tasted 1st hand the hard work and quality they are putting into their beers, their homebrew shop, the taproom, etc. On a recent visit they gave me a tour of the brewing room, very clean, very professional looking setup. Thanks to 1st Republic Brewing Co. I started home brewing about a year ago, making 3 gal batches of beer at a time following recipes they provided. They made it easy by setting me up with everything I needed but the water. They even had instructional handouts to go with the recipes! I have also mail ordered through their website, very reasonable and easy to use. They get right back to you if you have a question. I don’t live near Essex, Vermont, but I have made it there on a few occasions to pick up brewing supplies and of course… sample the beers! Now, they have “Pizza and Pint Night” and they also serve Stowe Cider and wine from Boyden Valley Winery. I know I will be back there soon!
