Bruce's Caves Conservation Area

Reviewed By SJinTO - Toronto, Canada

Nice short hike from the parking area to some very scenic caves. If you like moss, this is the place for you. The path is easy to walk, but those with mobility/ stability issues should keep their eyes on the path. The caves themselves are good for all skill levels, since you can climb as much or as little as you like.
The closest parking area is about 1 km from the caves and is paid parking. Your choices are to pay, risk not paying, or park in the area immediately after the turn off ftom the road, which will likely add 15-30 minutes to your walk.

Sauble Beach

Reviewed By chickandbeast - Durham, Canada

Very nice sandy beach along the shores of Lake Huron in Sauble Beach Ontario, parking can be tricky in high season and a little pricey. We actually considered buying a retirement home here to be closer to the beach, but reconsidered because of all the crowding in town in the summer months. Nicer to visit.

We were impressed by the WW statue -- a great memorial to the legend. Be sure to see the live Willie nearby.

Sauble Falls Provincial Park

Reviewed By RedAnchor - London, Canada

We recently stayed at Sauble Falls Provincial Park (September 22-24) with family. We had one of the electrical serviced sites overlooking the river. Thankfully there was lots of shade as the weather was unseasonably warm all weekend. Our site was huge! The electrical plug in was located near the back of the site which allowed for us to park our trailer along the fence at the back of the site away from the road.
The water tap was across from our site so very convenient. The comfort station was a short walk away. The park overall is beautiful. There are stairs down to the falls and observation decks also.
Our only complaint would have to be the cleanliness of the washrooms. On Saturday morning the washrooms were cleaned and the floor mopped but it would have been nice if a couple of minutes were taken to clear the spider webs away from the end of the counters and along the windows. A simple sweep of a broom would have done the job. My husband took a shower on Saturday and said there wasn’t a problem with hot water or pressure, but did comment on the spider webs in the shower area.
Staff at the front gate were very nice. We noticed a ranger only a couple of times doing a drive through the park. We have stayed at conservation areas and noticed the staff is much more diligent about driving through to make sure everything is as it should be.
There is no camp store located on the park grounds however there is a general store “Call of the Wild” located across the bridge which stocks ice, firewood and groceries. As we were staying there late in the camping season, the supplies were very low – no ice, milk, etc. There is another store across the highway but we didn’t check it out.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Sauble Falls is a beautiful area and definitely worth the drive!

Bruce Peninsula Boat Tours

We provide 90 minute guided passenger tours on the beautiful Bruce Peninsula. We depart 3X daily, from the Oliphant Government Dock, just 13 km north of Sauble Beach and 13 km west of Wiarton. Reservations must be made in advance. Formerly called "Fishing Island Tours & Charters" we have changed our name to "Bruce Peninsula Boat Tours" in the 2017 season, and are working to get Trip Advisor to recognize our new name!

I'm a long-time Sauble Beach visitor, but never realized what lay off the shore at Oliphant!! After picking up a brochure last summer, we took the boat tour this summer mid August. What an absolutely delightful afternoon spent on the water exploring the Oliphant area including the shipwrecks visable in the shallow water. Dylan was our guide. He was knowledgeable, humorous and a perfect host and navigator. I would highly recommend this tour and am hoping to take it again in the future!!

Spirit Rock Conservation Area

Reviewed By Bravaencore - Ann Arbor, Michigan

The combination of the staircase and estate ruins, surrounded by woods that were carpeted with Trilliums and Forget-Me-Nots, made for a fun morning excursion after we left Lion’s Head and headed back to Michigan. The dirt road that heads into the property is single track and you would not want to be caught having to back up on it with a trailer or large RV. The parking area offers toilets and a picnic table, but our next stop was the lovely Green Door Café.

Bluewater Park

Bluewater Park is a great stop for visitors to Wiarton. It is along the beautiful shoreline of Georgian Bay's Colpoys Bay. Located at the park is the Wiarton Visitor Information Centre, a playground and splash pad for children, a small boardwalk along the shore and a historic train station. There's something to do for all ages. It is only a block or two from downtown. It is easy enough to park at the free parking downtown and walk to the park. Oh, and there is a statue carved from stone of Wiarton Willie. The actual groundhog's home is across the road, beside the library.

We visit this store almost every time we come to Wiarton. There are so many great project ideas that are easy enough for beginners to get good results with. Although you can walk in any time and the fabulous staff will help you with jewelry or other projects, we prebooked a visit with 7 Tweens/Teens for my daughter's birthday. The owners have the girls choices of a few different projects and helped them to get going with the projects. All of the girls' projects turned out amazingly well and we even went back again the next day to do some more! You cannot beat the creativity of the amazing staff here!
