Easily reached by metro from Lille (get a day pass for 5 Euro) this converted swimming pool has so much character and full of interesting things to see and do. Very children friendly and good cafe / restaurant within. Loved the playing of recordings of children screaming and playing in a swimming pool every quarter of the hour to add authenticity!

McArthurGlen Roubaix

Just 20 minutes from Lille or 90 minutes from Brussels, McArthurGlen Roubaix is ideally situated for visitors to both France and Belgium; there is even a metro stop on-site. The outlet is a highlight of the area's redevelopment scheme and a jewel in the heart of the town. It brings designer shopping to the doorstep of locals and international visitors alike.

Small and compact shopping outlet based in central Roubaix. Similar to similar sites I've been to in the UK and US. Eglise St Martin

Reviewed By Amazon122s - Santa Comba Dao, Portugal

As this location is only at about 50 km from the B&B het Latemsdal we spent some time to visit this lication.
The original structure of the parish church of Saint Martin remains, but it is thought that the original church was constructed in the 9th Century. What visitors see today is the amazing reconstruction job that architect Charles Leroy undertook in 1848. The architect managed to work around some of the older features that remained and blended the 19th Century structure with them to create a fantastic church at the heart of the community. On the other side you have the town hall of Roubaix.
To visit those two objects you need some time, because it is hard to find a parking place for the car, and on the other hand we had un very on comfortable and un save feeling by walking there were you hardly find a local French person!

A voir pour les tombes des grandes familles qui ont fait la richesse de Roubaix. Un peu dommage qu'elles ne soient souvent pas très bien entretenues. Elles illustrent le déclin de l'industrie textile

La Condition Publique

Reviewed By Beto79 - Lille, France

I did not know about this place, I found about it when I picked up the agenda "sortir" of Lille. This place is a former fabric that has been transformed into a place for temporary Exhibitions and events. When I went they had three events: a Market for handmade local clothes, a flamenco show (at night) and the exhibition Street Generations(s). The place was packed with locals. The exhibition contains the major names of street art from Jef Aerosol to the modern Banksy. The exhibition is until June 18 2017. The restaurant serves "slow food" which was very tasty but indeed slow. I do not know if the place is new or old, but I think it is phenomenal that Roubaix counts with this space.

Roubaix Grand-Place

Reviewed By AllanJGJ - Wellington, New Zealand

This isn't the most attractive Grand Place you will ever see - apparently the area was severely damaged in WWII - but the Hotel de Ville is like a highly decorated cake and well worth a stroll past. We found an excellent lunch eatery just off to one side and had the unfortunate entertainment of seeing two young lads (one the lookout) steal what looked to be a wide-screen TV out of the back of a parked truck. Poor driver, but I guess a warning to tourists that crime is everywhere.

Stop by for lunch if you are in Roubaix.
Plenty of places to sit and to takes photos, not very big but nice if you have kids or for a picnic. There also chickens running around or maybe they escaped when we were there.
Not worth going out your way for but worth it is you are close by.

A pretty average shopping village compared to say the US or Australia. Being in a number of old factory buildings it's pretty rambling with no 'village' layout. Parking is a problem. No doubt there are stores to interest most; a Galleries Lafayette discount store seemed the most interesting to us. Certainly not worth making a special trip.
