Orebro Castle is so picturesque from the outside that even if you don't have time to do more, it is worth at least a stop to appreciate. Orebro makes a great stop if you are driving west/east in Sweden as the town center itself is lovely and walkable. There is also a very nice large park.

Sweden has many impressive water towers, this being one of the finest examples I've seen so far. Observation deck is separated from the restaurant and entry is free. It's a bit farther from the city centre, so only worth a visit if you want to see the landscape (which is admittedly not particularly impressive) from above or are a water tower aficionado.

In the spring and summer, this is a lovely place for a hike or walk. There are also areas where you can have a picnic. Personally, I'd skip the restaurant -- it's difficult to know when it will be open and the food is not that special.

The building doesn't show much, it is old, they don't even know exactly how old it is. Was probably built in 13th or 14th century but it was the only church in town until 20th century.
However, the church is a very important and busy place for the locals. It is a free Wifi spot and everybody is in front of it.
I went to see the castle, cant miss that, and I checked the church while at it. The entire town is nice as a matter of fact, pay it a visit, you wont be disappointed. See my pictures.

Especially if this is one of your first stops in Sweden -- the museum is all in Swedish, though (unfortunately), so if you have a Swedish friend to take, who can translate for you, I recommend that. It has some interesting artifacts, including one of many runestones found in Orebro lan.

I thought I saw a sign that said this was Sweden's best city park, and the fifth best city park in Europe. Don't know if that's true, but I went here every single day of my stay in Orebro. The first night, two men were playing the violin on a park bench. I enjoyed listening to them as I viewed the statues and watched the ducks play in the streams. The second day I spent more time viewing the flower beds. This is a big park that is flanked by the river, and is just a relaxing place to be.

This place is great for kids. It has all kinds of climbing activities with lots of nets including a pirate ship with foam balls you can shoot at others and cannons that blast the foam balls. It also have an indoor track with moon vehicles that kids can peddle, lots of slides (including the large volcano slide), a teflon rink (similar to ice-skating). It also has a baby activity section for kids 3yrs old and under.
