Inniswood Metro Gardens

Reviewed By Thomas B - Westerville, Ohio

I try to visit Inniswood a couple of times every week to take a walk and take photographs of the changing scenery and flowers. The staff does a great job at maintaining the various areas and the beautiful flowers. Weekends are always very busy, but weekdays can be quiet at times although even weekdays can be busy. I can always find some quiet spots though. My favorite areas are the Boardwalk Trail, the Spring Run Trail and the secret Garden.

Lynd's Fruit Farm

Whether its a family, couples, or school groups there's something for everybody. It's really not cheap for the apples themeselves, but they're HUGE and almost all in perfect shape. You can eat your fill, but one apple is more than enough. The kiddie things cost, but only 2 or 3 dollars.

Hoover Dam

Reviewed By glorynews - Columbus, OH

This is a great place to walk solo or with friends or to walk your dog. You can walk across the dam to a park, down steps overlooking the spillway and the water feature is pretty spring, summer and fall. There is a walking and bike path along the west side of the dam that goes a couple miles and is well used

Glass Rooster Cannery

Reviewed By Melyssa M - Columbus, Ohio

My co-worker found this place for a work event, I wandered up here a few Saturdays ago and brought the kids. This place was fantastic - not only do they have classes to teach you to can your favorite fruits and veggies, make soap, wine or dehydrate stuff, they also sell handmade canned items. I mean the real stuff like you would eat at Grandmas. The sisters that work there/own the place will let you sample whatever you want. I found my grandmother's lost recipe, checked out some homemade soap and had a ton of fun checking out the barns full of oddities, antiques and crafts for sale.

You have to check this place out; you'll feel like you were visiting Grandma's house. Check out their website for a class schedule or just stop up there when they are open on a cool breezy Saturday. It's worth the drive.

Autumn Rush Vineyard

Reviewed By Karen A - Gahanna

My husband and I were visiting wineries in the Licking County area and we stopped at Autumn Rush Vineyard. We were greeted by the owners in the tasting room and they were so welcoming and spent time telling us about each of their wines. They have a selection of about 9 wines and I have to say each one was delicious. I especially enjoyed the Marquette which was dry with a spicy peppery finish and the Rosaline which is a beautiful amber colored wine fermented with the grape skins on and has a semi sweet peach and apricot flavor. We bought a bottle of the Rosaline and sat out on the patio and enjoyed the view of the beautiful pond. The setting was very serene and restful. Be sure to check their events calander for music and other activities held at the vineyard. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we shall return!

The Links at Echo Springs

Reviewed By Jim H - Westerville, Ohio

I last reviewed the Links at Echo Springs last spring. At the time, I indicated that this was a beautiful "links style" course and that it was one of the better maintained courses that we normally played. Last year, they also had an annoying policy that prohibited "walkers" before 1 or 2:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.

The course is now under new management and the good news is that they've eliminated the rule prohibiting walkers before early afternoon.

The bad news is that course maintenance has gone way down. There were dandelions EVERYWHERE and the t-boxes were particularly bad. The fairways could best be described as FAIR. The greens were decent but not great.

In my last review, I rated this course as "4-stars". This year, I'm ranking it as 3-stars and - sadly - even that is a stretch.

Rocky Fork Metro Park

Reviewed By Thom P - Delaware, Ohio

This is the latest addition to the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks. The facilities in place so far are worth a stop. It is still a work in progress with scheduled completion for the bike trail in 2016 as well as other improvements. I visited with my wife and 4 YO son on opening weekend. It was relatively busy. Parking wasn't a problem but if it catches on as a local hiking, exercise and picnic spot, weekends and holidays could get very crowded.

There are paved walking paths, and unimproved (mowed) meadow trail, a beautiful picnic lodge and some scattered tables on concrete pads, nice restrooms, a planned bike trail and a dog walk and large dog exercise area. There is also a small play area thoroughly investigated by my son.

Granville Carriage Company offers a 30 minute Narrated Historical Village Tour of Granville. The Classical White Vis a Vis Carriage seats 4 to 6 people and the Ladies who ride receive a complementary flower. In 2010 Ohio Magazine voted Granville Carriage Co. "Best of the Best" While that was an honor we strive to have every ride wonderful. I often hear "I feel I am IN the postcard". Reservations only please.

If you're staying a day or two in Granville, be sure to take the time to plan a wonderful carriage ride with Diana and her beautiful horse, Toby. Diana is very knowledgable on the history of the Village of Granville, local lore, and caters to your every need. Do miss the opportunity to enjoy a fabulous, romantic, carriage ride in this picturesque, New England-like town - and a bit of a blast-to-the-past.
