The castle is pretty vestigial (Genoese I think), but its location atop a hill means it is cooler than at sea level, and gets some breeze. This alone justifies a lingering cup of tea. Also nice views out to Black Sea and one of its few Islands.

Çamurlu bir dağ yolunda tam 2 saat 1 ci viteste tırmandım..ıslak çamur nem ve sis içinde yolumu yol kenarındaki çitlere bakarak buldum. Sıcaklık 18 derece idi... bazan yol kenarında yürüyen bağına bahçesine giden vatandaşlara çarpma tehlikesi yaşadım ..Allahtan 10 ..20 km hızla gidiyorduk... tehlike bu şekilde azaldı...yaylaya çıktık.. 0 görüş mesafesi..0 manzara... kirpiklerimize çiğ damlaları yapıştı. Bedrama Castle

Reviewed By Bielding - Liverpool

On our way from Giresun to Trabzon, we stopped for a nice fish lunch by the bay in Tirebolu. We then decided to charter a taxi to go a few km inland up one of the hazelnut plantation-covered Valleys to see the obscure Bedrama kale. It took a fair while, going up hill and down dale in the taxi through the hazelnut groves, till we finally came to the start of the trail up into the castle.
The castle is tiny, but it is perched on a tall stack of rock, and getting up to it is a feat in itself. The climate there is utterly sodden (they grow tea not too far from here), so the vegetation is positively Triffid-like, and all the surfaces are covered with slippery moss. There is not so much a path as a succession of footholds. At several points on the ascent, one skirts past hidden, unguarded drops of perhaps 15-20 m. The final ascent to the castle is via the top of a surface of bare rock with footholds carved into it long ago, and more recently a rather rickety handrail fixed beside it. The rock cambers off on either side to a drop of c. 30m.
Getting to the top (alive) was exhilirating, but we were utterly exhausted, sodden and filthy. Blackberries gown within the (rather vestigial) castle on the summit, and I fondly remember nibbling on them as another bank of cloud obscured the otherwise panoramic vista of hazelnut cultivation.

In a disused 19th C church, this museum has some interesting things - a very good mini numismatics collection (going from classical to modern), as well as some rather poignant Greek language gravestones from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
