This use to be the Gem of the south shore , they have slowly abandoned this State park . As of this moment the pool is slated to be demolished one of the main reasons folks went here - 2nd the camping area has not been open since they shut it down some 6-8 years ago ? The beaches are Disgusting with sand that looks like it came from a rock quarry ! And yes folks they trucked this garbage in for your enjoyment . As of late something has been missing ,As if the above was not enough reason not to spend 8.00 to go there . The deer population seems have disappeared ??? This is suppose to be the home of the white tail Deer ? I have not seen one in my last 4 visits there to do my weekly check on the migrating osprey . Well there you have it . Unless you are looking for a rocky beach in the great South Bay or looking not to swim in a demolished pool or maybe you would like to camp out in a park which closed its camping area over 5 years ago , or maybe it's the non existent deer population your after . I really would like to know how the deer in the thousands just vanished ?????? Go any where but here !

Came here for a good, albeit chilly 2 hour trail walk on a cold, November day with one of my out-of town sisters, The leaves had a good bit of color on them still, the trails are well-maintained, but very poorly marked. Nearly everyone we passed had a hard time finding the trails correctly. We did not get lost, just did a lot of wandering, but it was all enjoyable. Consider using the audible cell phone walking tour to help you get around and learn great tidbits about what you are seeing trailside. The ponds are beautiful.

The grounds are lovely and the home is wonderful. Tours are limited to Thursday through Sunday at 1pm and have a $12 charge. There is an attractive cafe also. We enjoyed walking around looking at the well maintained grounds and several weddings in progress.

When I checked into my room at the Residence Inn, I saw a ballpark outside the window. I looked it up online and saw that it was a professional (not MLB) baseball team ballpark and they were playing a playoff game that night. I love baseball and frequent our local MLB and AA team stadiums at home, so this was right up my alley.
Parking is across the street, but I could have (and should have) walked from my hotel. It is well lit, lots of people and 2 people at the cross street to the park who can answer questions.
Inside the park was very nice. Typical of minor league ball parks. The entertainment between innings was not as diverse as those at MLB minor league parks, but was still fun (just a t-shirt toss).
This was a playoff game an it was packed with families. As a solo person, I was able to get the seat right behind home plate, which was fun.
Definitely a great place to visit. I highly recommend it.

The Long Island Maritime Museum has a large collection of small craft which have either been built or used around Long Island. Our collection includes many different sailboats built by the legendary Gil Smith at his boatyard in Patchogue. We also have a brand new Lifesaving Exhibit, which is an interactive program. Activities for schoolchildren include winter and spring break programs, as well as summer camps.
I purchased tickets to sail the Priscilla. It was a wonderful , pleasant, and informative experience. The sail around the Great South Bay was as beautiful as one would imagine. Enhancing its beauty was the kind and knowledgeable staff members who helped to walk us back in historic time to incite our imagination to the era that Priscilla originally sailed. Very great experience!

A great dog park where you can walk down to the bay. There is a playground for kids, a picnic area and a hiking trail. Bathroom facilities available, and a drinking fountain for you and your dog. Large parking lot, but on weekends it can be packed.

Our handicap accessible theatre comfortably seats 330, including a VIP section of raised banquet seats. Made reservations 2 weeks prior to attending and were lucky to get center seating (just cancelled). The day that we attended, the theatre seemed to be full. What a performance! Have seen stage show of Sister Act years before and of course the renowned Movie version. This was excellent. Couldn't have been better on Broadway. The actors/singers were professional and the stage effects perfect. Have been to this theatre a number of times and its only getting better. It beats travelling to Manhattan theaters and paying exorbitant ticket prices.

Sailboat rides on a restored 1888 oyster sloop. Sailing from the Snapper Inn Restaurant overlooking the beautiful Connetquot River in Oakdale. Offering public trips as well as private charters on the Great South Bay.
We sailed on the Priscilla (Long Island sound oyster sloop) run by the Long Island maritime museum. The crew are all volunteers and they are fabulous. They not only sail this ship but explain its history. It is a national historic landmark. It cost us $30 pp for a 2 hour sailing on the beautiful great South Bay. It was a stunning day -very relaxing and informative. We are native New Yorkers and I think this is one of those great kept secrets. We were on the 1:00 public sailing. U do need to check the schedule as it varies.
After we returned we went to the hidden valley cafe at the bayyard cutting arboretum (which is another awesome outing) for lunch where we enjoyed fresh inexpensive food with another fantastic view overlooking the great lawn and great river. We have such treasures available to us on Long Island
We haven't been to the Long Island maritime museum yet but it is now high on our list.

The escape game experience is the new wave of entertainment. What is an escape room? It's the new and exciting way of team building between coworkers, families, friends and enthusiasts or anyone wanting to put their life skills to the ultimate test. The concept is simple: you are in a themed room with one mission. Escape the room in 60 min. Our rooms are challenging yet fun for all ages 10 yr old and up. Our game rooms are not built to be scary but to make your group work and communicate together as a team under pressure. You will be so amazed at the excitement and adrenaline that an escape room can create. You are forewarned-it will be addicting!
This was my first time doing an escape room and I didn’t know what to expect. My team and I were very engaged in solving these puzzles and opening locks. When I thought we were done we found a key to another room. It was well planned and we actually escaped with very little time left on the clock. I can’t wait to do again. Perfect for a night out.
