Vasa Museum

The Vasa ship capsized and sank in Stockholm 1628. After 333 years on the sea bed the mighty warship was salvaged and the voyage could continue. Today Vasa is the world's only preserved 17th century ship and the most visited museum in Scandinavia.

The back story, history, dedication and most of all the exhibits are astonishing and so well laid out! To do it justice allow 3 hours or more to look around at the ship, stories of those people on board and the dedication of one man against all odds that searched and found the remains. The lessons learnt about the preservation of the ship and timber are fascinating and help us salvage and preserve similar ship wrecks to this day. More than just a history lesson!

Mall of Scandinavia

I really think that Sweden should be renamed Fleeceland as the thing they know how to do best is how take money from you.
Lots of shops, quite a decent selection of places to eat but all in all, nothing special.
Sweden is ridiculously expensive but it’s relevant to the income of the population. They have amongst the highest average wage in Europe and that is reflected in the prices.
Having travelled a lot of the world it’s perfectly clear that prices match income wherever you go.
Their average wage is about 35% higher - at current exchange rates - than the UK. That said, there is no excuse for some of the costs in visiting Stockholm.
The first thing I noticed is that their smallest coin is 1kr, that’s about 10p. That means that everything gets rounded up to start with.
Parking is ridiculously expensive everywhere, food even more so. And if you like to pay at least £6 for a small bottle of beer then you will be right at home here.
For us, Stockholm is a one-off visit.
There are a few places worth paying the entrance fee for but overall I would give it a miss.

Millesgarden

Welcome to Millesgården - an oasis just 15 minutes from downtown Stockholm. Millesgården is an artist home, a vast sculpture park with flower beds and Fountains, art gallery, restaurant, antique collection and a museum shop.

Reviewed By StockholmKindaGuy - Atlanta

I was already familiar with the work of Carl Milles, a favorite sculptor of mine. Many of his sculptures adorn the Cranbrook educational community near Detroit, where he taught for 20 years. Like Cranbrook, Millesgården offers a beautiful environment to showcase his most important works, having once been his home and studio. There's approximately 200 to see.
The park has this magical and enchanting quality about it that reminded me of the "Lord of the Rings" movies. It made for an enjoyable walk. I was pleasantly surprised to see works by Marshall Fredericks, a Michigan sculptor famous for his "Spirit of Detroit' sculpture, who studied under Milles.
In addition to the Sculpture Park, you can also view Milles' home and studio, complete with molds, as well as the beautiful home of his assistant Anne, with furniture designed by Josef Frank. There's also a gallery with temporary Exhibitions.

There's a lot to see, so give yourself enough time. By the time you finish your visit, you should have a good understanding of this important artist's life. I would advise going on a sunny day if possible. There's a cafe/restaurant on the grounds, as well as a nice gift shop. I picked up a beautiful book on Millisgården.
Adult Admission is 150 SEK. You can easily reach Millesgården using public transportation. It's short walk from the bus/tram stop.
If you're in Stockholm, this is a must do.

Roslagsleden

Reviewed By The_Oger - Akersberga, Sweden

If you like city life but also like nature, the quietness, this is a perfect trip to take. Roslagsleden is a walking trail (also done by MTB) that takes a couple of days to do. Either you start in Danderyd (subway to Mörby Centrum and then bus) and walk towards Täby/Karby Gård and (not far away from Täby kyrkby station) or you take the train from Östra Station to Viggbyholm and trott to Skavlöten and walk back to Danderyd.
You need to bring food and beverage if you´re not into "living of the wild"....ha,ha,ha!

Stockholm Old Town

The Old Town, unsurprisingly, is the oldest part of Stockholm. It's certainly the tourist's go-to destination, but that doesn’t detract from its architectural and otherwise urban beauty.

Friends Arena

Reviewed By Robtane - Stockholm, Sweden

I love AIK Football and Friends Arena is their home ground. It is always an enjoyable occasion going with my 11 year old Daughter to follow them. The pluses for Friends is easy parking at Mall of Scandinavia (although exiting after a game can be a test of patience) or easy walk to trains or busses. The downside is how bad the hotdogs are. Overall my love of the Football gives the stadium 3 stars but I wish I had the ability to give 3 ½ stars. I have also attended a Coldplay concert here and that was fantastic and an upcoming Queen concert. Will review again. Hate those hotdogs though.

Danderyds Curling

Reviewed By Rashroush - Stockholm, Sweden

We spent an afternoon with my colleagues at Danderyds Curling center , the instructor was well knowledgeable and provided lots of info and helped all along the way.
You also have an option to wer additional gear on the shoes which will enable you to walk on the ice instead of sliding ..
If you have played it before it can be fun, but if not it can be bit cold standing long enough listening to instructions and then playing (or better say sliding and falling) a bit.
I won't recommend this type of activities if you are many foreigners with little exposure wir winter sports..
The place it's self is good, separate big locker rooms and there is a small cafe in the second floor by the tennis courts just in case you need to buy something.
You are allowed as well to bring your own drinks and snacks ..
