Hathee Singh Jain Temple

Reviewed By RobbieOz2811 - Brisbane, Australia

My visit to the Hathee Singh Jain Temple was my first experience of the Jain religion. A ceremony was underway at the time. I was impressed at the joy, inclusivity, music and song, and colour. Without understanding what was taking place, my presence was accepted graciously. I saw in tne architecture and beautiful decorations, icons, figures and treasures a focus on humanism. I loved my introduction to Jain. We were passing visitors, not part of a tour. From the gentleman who welcomed us and minded our shoes, to the gentleman who invited us to feasting afterwards, it was a memorable experience. Thank you.

Our first visit to a step-well and it did not disappoint. The temperature dropped the closer we got to the bottom of the well. The tree of life carvings were beautiful in addition to the other intricate carvings. On either side of the main steps are narrow, winding stair cases. We started to take them up; however, the bats made us hesitate.
