I did the Customizable Aurora Photo Holiday - 4 nights in Abisko - with Lights over Lapland and had an amazing trip! Communication before the trip was great and they helped me add additional activities to my itinerary. I faced a major road block in that my flight to Kiruna was canceled on the day we were meant to arrive, but Lights over Lapland was extremely responsive and helpful in making accommodations. 5 of us ended up arriving late in the first evening of the tour but they helped us arrange transportation to Abisko and to suit up and get our gear quickly so we could join the rest of the group and see the aurora, which I was very grateful for. Our guide was Oliver and he is extremely talented and a great guide. We saw the most amazing northern lights display on our last two nights - truly awe-inspiring and unforgettable. That would have been enough for an amazing trip but additionally the day time in Abisko was also wonderful. The included dog sled adventure was really fun and the scenery is just amazing. I also added the guided snow shoe hike which was great and there are lots of beautiful trails walkable from the lodge to do on your own. I picked this tour because I read that the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in Abisko are better than in other locations, the small group tour size - only 10 people, they provide the cameras and tripods, and take you to different locations each evening for viewing. I highly recommend this tour and this company.

I have just returned from the Swedish Lapland and Aurora Borealis tour with Lonely Planet photographer David Evans and local guide Peter Rosen, a professional photographer and expert in aurora, night, landscape and wildlife photography. What an amazing experience this was. From the time I arrived in Stockholm, I was so well looked after. I am a point and shoot photographer but with the guidance of Peter and David, I have brought home some incredible photos. Peter's local knowledge meant we went to beautiful locations by dog sled and vehicle, and I thoroughly enjoyed not only the photographic opportunities but also being able to participate in activities such as dog sledding, reindeer sledding, visiting the famous Ice Hotel, and enjoying life in the forest outside Kiruna. Our accommodation both in the forest and at Abrisko was excellent as were all our meals. We were so fortunate to have had good weather, and to see the northern lights on 6 out of 7 nights. Peter went out of his way to make sure we had every opportunity including driving into Norway on the last night because of fog in Abrisko, where we saw the most amazing aurora Borealis display, so much so that many of us put down the cameras and just watched in awe as the northern lights burst up from behind the cliffs and danced and weaved across the sky. Thank you David and Peter for this once in a lifetime experience. If you want to see Swedish Lapland in all its beauty, book this tour, you will not regret it.

Great tour with everything from your apparel to the refreshments thought of. We spotted the Northern Lights and our guide Jesper was brilliant - gave us insight to the local cultures, some interesting stories and also told us he crafted the recipe for the Moose burger sold at the kiosk near the Mountain Lodge and it was fantastic! Definitely recommended!

We did a snowmobile tour from Abisko to the Laktatjakko Mountain Lodge.
The adventure and scenery was amazing. Ridiculous mountain, frozen lake, and arctic views. The waffles at the lodge were actually quite amazing themselves.
However, what made this trip unforgettable was our guide Ola. He was clearly an outdoors expert, but also was a true historian of the area. The narrative he gave on our tour was unexpected, rich and interesting. He was also the kindest, easiest going person we met in all of Scandinavia. We had an unfortunate incident that day (not due to the tour operation), and Ola went above and beyond to help us out. I think our entire vacation would have been ruined without his hospitality and understanding.
Amazing adventure but a more amazing guide. We will be back and asking for him by name!

Worth a visit....we booked for the exclusive dinner. The benefit of this is that diners only get full use of the whole facility between 6pm and 9pm, during which is served a delicious four course meal and between each course a brief background/history to 'the lights' is presented. After 9pm, the facility opens up to everyone.
We were very lucky in that 'the lights' appeared just as the meal came to an end, and we had full use of the mountain to photograph them.
Ski lift journey up gives ones eyes time to acclimatise.
Transfers are bookable in advance...
This was not a cheap night, but well worth it!

Beautiful lake side walk. The lake is so big it extends miles along the Sweden Norway connecting route and feels almost like a calm sea. With snow Mountains in the background it makes for a splendid scenic walk. Make sure you have ice grips /yaktrax clipped to the shoes, some patches of the approach are very slippery and dangerous. During winter months, the daylight time is from 10-1.30 so take a tripod along and you can have yourself some amazing landscape pics.

Tim took us ice fishing, snow shoe walking and then slotted us in for ice climbing (which we really appreciated). He knows the area like the back of his hand and clearly loves what he does. My girlfriend also wanted to take his beautiful Samoyed dog back to Aus. No matter what the activity or your skill level, Tim will look after you and has the experience and skills to do it safely. Thanks Tim for a bunch of experiences we won't forget in a hurry.
