So impressed first night we returned to dine there the following night. Menu not as extensive as other Hungarian Restaurants but more than adequate to satisfy most palates, prepared and cooked to order and presented with garnishes and accompaniments to impress any gourmet connoisseur. The training , knowledge particularly of wines and the local culture of the waiter staff, is most impressive. No hesitation in recommending.

Oporto Restaurant

Reviewed By Mark H - Krakow

I first ate at the Oporto nearly 20 years ago and have made it a ritual to stop by for my first lunch in town whenever I hit Villany. I have fond memories of many afternoons spent under the grapevines that grow up the rafters of the outdoor patio. Good , honest food , jugs of local wine and a view of village life make this a good place to spend some time.. These days the traffic is heavier than it used to be and the town is growing but it still has not lost its charm. That the Oporto now advertizes an all you can eat buffet should not put you off. Order what they do best: a simple tomato salad( Hungarian tomatoes are mind blowingly sweet) and a hearty portion of their wild game goulash.. Rich and filling it's one of the better ones in town...Shame about the tinny speakers they've hooked up to the rafters but you can always try to get them to turn off the noise the young waitress likes to play..

Tried for a late lunch on a weekday before the high season (end of October). We were absolutely satisfied. Choice was wide and what we had were all delicious. Waiters were smiling and kind.

Fulemule Csarda

As we've always eaten in the beer tent in the summer we were surprised that there was a whole other part of the restaurant they open up in the fall .. a REAL restaurant ....comfortable , charming, lined with funky wall-paper showing Austrio-Hungarian photos from long ago ..styled very much like a traditional German gasthaus , which it is really ..This part of Hungary was colonized by Germans and it shows in its cusine and the names of the towns you drive though.....The staff was as friendly as ever and we had fun as they tried to teach us a few words in Hungarian... The food was outstanding.... real Hungarian cooking of the likes you will be hard pressed to find in downtown Budapest...The venison goulash and the paprika laden catfish soup were as good as I have eaten and the portions heroic ... Good, inexpenisve wine by the carafe can be ordered and very nice plates of home made pickled goodies were an added treat.. These are DEEP flavours and beautiful in color and presentation...An amazing place... A MUST for lunch if you are in the Villany area... Park your car at the hotel and walk down so you can have a few glasses ... 5 minutes walk from the train station, the opposite direction from Villany, just across the small bridge,,,....very affordable for the quality of food!

Vylyan Vineyards and Winery

We did 4 tastings and had one of the selection of the winery. Wow! That's it... speechless. If you do 4+ tasting you can have a tour of the cellar. We did it while having our amazing wine. I liked it. It was nice to talk with our guide, but do not expect anything special. The atmosphere is lovable, and the sourrounding is beautiful. While you do your tastings they can provide you with some snacks, but no warm food. So be careful... not good for lunch. Winery closes at 6pm, so better to go well advance. Enjoy!

Gal Pince and Wine Museum

Reviewed By ELear - Ancona, Italy

The Gal Pince is round the side of the museum, just off the main street. It specialises in fortified wine (like port, for example), and the glass I had was delicious. (A full 'tasting' involves five or six different varieties.) It's cool and dark inside, which makes it very pleasant when it's hot. The day I was there it was 35 C outside, and I was reluctant to leave. Try the wine marmalade.

Vintus Pince Kft

Reviewed By Jonathan S - Gibsons, Canada

Having just arrived in Villany for a three night visit, our host suggested lunch at Vintus Prince. Great recommendation. The bean soup was tasty, substantial and very Hungarian. When asked for a chicken dish, an off-menu item was produced. Very tasty. The bottle of wine was also excellent.
