Sasolburg is a large industrial town within the Metsimaholo Local Municipality in the far north of the Free State province of South Africa. Sasolburg is further sub-divided into three areas: Sasolburg proper, Vaalpark (a more affluent cluster of suburbs located about 5 km north of the Sasolburg CBD) and Zamdela (a 'township' or area formerly reserved for Black people). Most white residents of Sasolburg speak Afrikaans as a first language, while most black people speak Sesotho as a first language. The Sasol corporation has sponsored infrastructural developments in Sasolburg, such as an Olympic size swimming pool.

Stonehaven is owned by the Cloete-Anderson Family and is the Vaal River’s social centre, a natural interface between locals and visitors. Here you will find the largest alfresco Garden Restaurant in South Africa. You will enjoy being greeted by the relaxed and charming ambience as you meander through Stonehaven’s cobbled pathways that lead you through the quaint herb garden, over 1000 rose bushes and the mature Gardens and lawns that sweep down to the Vaal River. Dining around the swimming pool while your children enjoy a dip is also a perfect way of enjoying relaxed family dining. Started the process with a lovely lady called Wendy, who assisted in every way possible. On the day we were greeted by the friendliest security guards, signs everywhere telling us where we needed to go for Sabrina bachelorette, great photo opportunities along the way. Once we boarded The Royal Stonehaven we were all blown away at the table decor, the little prayer and note for our Bride to be. Every details was taken care off, friendly staff on board. The worlds biggest burger to ensure our tummies where satisfied. Jacuzzi on board, ashtrays for the smokers and just a really great vibe. Would highly recommend this as something different to do for any party or event. Well done Stonehaven on Vaal team.

Well known in the area as the top restaurant
As visitors from the Cape we were led to believe that we haven't got a Portuguese restaurant down here as good as this one. Oh dear! some of our fast food outlets are better than this. We were a large table (10 adults plus children) but they cater for plenty of people.
Prawns were in short supply (no king or queen) - tried to sell us giant tiger prawns at R190 EACH! The starters were very average - the mains were varied with the prawn curry getting first prize, the lamb shank second, and the smoked ribs a "could do better" third. However, the calamari tubes were inedible - supposedly grilled, overdone on one side and not touched on the other - I have had better shoe leather! 3 portions all uneaten but charged for. A bottle of red completely corked and sent back. In fact a very poor experience all round. Glad I live in Cape Town!

Four of us for dinner at this high end restaurant just off the casino floor inside - which by the way has undergone some good improvements recently. Restaurant is fine dining establishment with the food and wine well presented. Quality was excellent with the steaks in particular right up there.

We are regular visitors to this Ocean Basket, and I understand they recently had a management change.
Usually on busy evenings we will wait to be seated, get a table order drinks and food, and by the time the drinks are about quarter the food will arrive.
Last night we ordered our food, waited for about an hour and 45 minutes for our soggy sushi to arrive, the platter we ordered only had a marble sized ball of wasabi.
Upon checking everything we realized that there is some stuff missing, we called the waiter and she said that the pot or something was not working so they did not add it to the order.
Im not sure if his was their opening night, but i will give them a second chance.

The cliché goes that a book should never be judged by its cover.
This is very appropriate when arriving at "The Shack". I am sure many "un-informed" people had their doubts when entering the venue.
The décor is rustic, very rustic, but done in a very creative way.
The Seating is very unpretentious and the atmosphere is extremely relaxed.
The booze price is better than average, but the one thing worth mentioning is the food.
The menu isn't massive, but very well thought out. The portions are more than adequate and very tasty. The Eishbein is humungus and tasty till the very last morsel and must be recommended.
Because it is a local watering hole I wouldn't classify this as a romantic joint as it can become a bit more "lively" at night.
But if you are looking to enjoy an ice cold beverage and some good hearty food, don't let the exterior of the place change your mind.

This is a great place for a night out with the family, or just with friends. The food is excellent at reasonable prices. The service is great, and Gary is always there to see that your needs are met and that you are enjoying yourself.

Ahoy Me Mateys! Join us at John Dory's - the best seafood restaurant that the whole family can enjoy! Our menu has an ocean of choices for all our seafood lovers! From fresh hand-rolled sushi to tempura battered fish & chips. Shiver your timbers! Our catch of the day, prawns, calamari and fresh oysters are a reason to abandon ship and come ashore! Our kids' menu has a variety of yummy meals for our young mateys too and we also have a cool kids' play area with boatloads of fun activities for little sailors! What are you waiting for? Dock your boat at John Dory's for arrr-mazing food and service.
I found the sushi very average for the price. I was expecting better after hearing great things about John Dorys. Service was also quite lacklustre with staff simply going about their day.
Rather try other places for your sushi fix.

This isn't a 5 star restaurant or anything close, but it is a brilliant South African pub. The prices are good & the meals are delicious & the helpings are huge. I would recommend a platter or the eisbein. Can get quite busy so make sure you arrive early or book a table.

Experience a truly South African dining experience at Nando's in Sasolburg. Our flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken restaurants are world famous for their succulent, grilled to perfection, butterfly-cut chickens. Add spice to your life with a meal from our Portuguese style menu. We've set the eating experience on fire and we can't wait for you to join our table because if there's one thing we love as much as PERi-PERi, it's lots of people to enjoy it with!
This is a poor example of a God restaurant /take away.
It has always been about average in Sasolburg so we tend to drive a few extra kilometers to the Vanderbijlpark outlet. However, not trusting our judgment, we ordered 3 take away chicken burgers. The rolls were not very fresh and the chicken only covered 2/3 of the roll. Only 1 napkin provided.
Sorry, but we we will continue to buy from other Nandos in the future.
