Liebevoll! in der Auermuhle

Reviewed By CDFBologna - Geneva, Switzerland

You are in the middle of forest and yet 15 minutes away from Dusseldorf airport. Excellent setting, modern deco in an old mill, the menu is surprising, international and the staff knows how to please you (I asked for strawberries with whipped cream, which was not on the menu).
I had a curry, Laos-style, which is one of the best I have had in Europe. The quantities were just right and the local beer, fresh and delicious.

We had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant last night. The atmosphere was warm, super friendly and very traditional German. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas from top to bottom and was quite a site. The food was so amazing and is likely one of the best places we dined at. Everything from the Fresh bread to appetizers, mains and desserts were of excellent quality and flavours. Our server was Elly and she was very attentive, super friendly and very knowledgeable and fun to talk with. This restaurant is a must visit while in town and we will definitely be in the future. The chef is a true artist and perfectionist. Thank you for the amazing dining experience.

Suitbertus-Stuben

Suitbertus-Stuben, a cozy brewery restaurant in bavarian style located in a 1492 build half-timbered house

Reviewed By Peter S - UK

The Suitbertus-Stuben offers a very varied choice of traditional German cooking which is prepared to a high standard. Service is generally friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. The building is one of the very few in Ratingen to have survived the ravages of the 30 Years War and well worth visiting in its own right.

We have been here with a Group of about 12 Persons including a few children.
Although we created a lot of confusion (changing places all the time, children playing) the owner and the personell treated us splendid and were helpfull and friendly throughout the evening. The ambience was splendid.
So was the food, you have a wide range of different kind of food from fish to meat or vegetarian dishes. The side orders and the dessert were just perfect. Prices are resonable and can be checked on the internet.
A lot of greek wines are offered too. I am not a fan of greek wine but was surprised to see that the wine was really on a high level and able to compete with french or italian wine.

Cedrics

We were staying at theHotel Haus Kronenthal next door and needed a nice place to take our family to for a lunch.
Upon entering we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. The staff helped the elderly who were dinning with taking their coats off.
Menu's are NOT in English only German. However, that is not a problem as the restaurant will find someone on staff to help translate. The staff will make themselves understood and help you with your selection. But, still bring your German dictionary if you are not good at German.
The place was inviting, clean and well presented.
Drinks were served promptly and the order was taken. When the food came, it is very good. You need to try something from the game menu. You will not be disappointed. Sides included seasonal vegetables and of course potatoes. You can substitute the type of potato you want by only asking.
Half portions are available for those who can not eat a full portion or for the child who does not want to order off the children menu.
Service is included in the price, but tipping is appreciated for very good or excellent service by rounding.
Parking is available next door which is shared with the hotel or across the street.
I would highly recommend eating at Cedric's when in Ratingen

Bürgershof is an excellent restaurant in the Lintorf area of Ratingen. It has typical regional dishes, which are excellent, and a couple of dishes that are from the Balkan. Staff is always very friendly, and it has a great outdoor space with playground as well. Certainly worth your visit if you're in the area. Reservations are recommended if you want to have dinner at regular hours.

Authentic comfortable surroundings, big portions of delicious well-prepared food with excellent presentation, excellent beer and drinks, and all at reasonable prices. Friendly welcoming service even though we were plain ordinary American tourists and not RIck Steves walking in with a camera crew. We haven't been so satisfied leaving a restaurant in a long time. We rate them #1 in Germany, not just in Ratingen!

La Taverna

Reviewed By EdB222 - Guildford, United Kingdom

We ate here midweek during a busy showtime at the Dusseldorf Messe. Consequently the restaurant was full and we were offered seats in the walled garden out the back. It was covered and heated by patio heaters which was fine for me though others might have been cold in 12C. In fact it was rather hot and stuffy in the crowded restaurant for my preference. The service, food and drinks were all very good, though not the best Italian that I have had.
For me the name suggested a Greek restaurant, but it was definitely Italian. Only a short walk from the Relexa Ratingen City Hotel.

La Petite Affaire

Reviewed By HazelEurope - Europe

Whilst I agree with most of the review of ChutzpahUK I must disagree with his description of the place being a "dive". La Petite Affaire is a small bistro which I have frequented on many occasions. The food is definitely French as is Houda, the wife of the Bistro owner. Mark, the owner speaks perfect English and is very accommodating. It is a wonderful place to relax with a glass of wine whilst listening to the atmospheric French music. Of course the menu is in German, after all it is in Germany. Definitely worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.
