The Brown Bag boasts a large assortment of sandwiches, hot delicious homemade soups, and fresh salads made daily. They use only the finest local & imported meats, cheeses & breads from Chicago & New York.
How lucky this small midwestern town is to have a REAL east coast deli land in it’s lap more than four decades ago. The Brown Bag continues to provide fresh a Deli menu everyday except Sunday. This place is a home town gem and built itself into a local institution.
They always have a nice selection of fresh Pies from the Pie Shop located in the same building.
I love the “Hot Tuna Boat” and “The Dagwood” is great, however my all time favorite for the last forty years is the Roast Beef and Swiss with mayo on a toasted Onion Roll.
Located just North West off of the square the unique building is comfortable and surrounded by shops and art galleries.

I stopped in to this DQ during a road trip. The employees were nice and polite, the food was well prepared, and the dining area was clean. The restaurant was full of high school kids and families. Classic small town DQ.

I applaud JIm and his idea of taking a Former Catholic Church, St Philomena's, and turning it into a coffee house with character and charm.
Great selection of coffees and treats.
He even sells bags of coffee and Mugs with a great Steeple Gallery Logo on them.
If you are in Monticello and want a quiet peaceful cup of coffee or tea, try the Steeple Gallery
You won't be disappointed.
You'll find Jim ready to please and accommodate.
He even rents out the Steeple for functions.
You can find them just of the Courthouse Square
Definitely worth looking.

The Three Ravens in Monticello, IL is a good place to relax with supper and a couple of drinks after a long day.
This place has over 400 kinds of whiskey I was told and lots of craft beers. I was very impressed with how knowledgeable the bar tenders were on all of the options. They could not have been more helpful to help me with my choice. Had yellow fin tuna as an appetizer it was great. The meals were very good also and compared to what it cost to eat out anymore I thought prices were below average and food was good.

My wife and I came to Monticello for a funeral and had a pizza and salad delivered to our hotel. The pizza was hot, overflowing with cheese...and delicious! The salad was tasty as well. A very good choice for a quick, casual meal.

Situated in a one hundred year old church, Monarch Brewing Company has made its home as a brewery and restaurant in the heart of Monticello, Illinois. Monarch offers 28 taps at the full service bar, including a variety of selections brewed on the premises. Stay for brunch, lunch, or dinner, as Monarch's menu features daily specials, house made pretzels, or a classic pub burger. Enjoy the view of the beautiful stained glass windows inside or bring a brew outside to savor the weather on a nice day.
We went on a Sunday morning during their Octoberfest event, so the menu was a set menu of German dishes. They had drink specials which included the glass mugs, so that was a fun perk. It's located in an old church, which has been renovated to fit the purpose. The brewing happens in the basement, there's a full bar on the side of where the sanctuary used to be, and the main sanctuary is where the dining area is. The tables are made of reclaimed planks. There are stained glass windows all the way around. From inside, these are beautiful. From the outside, there is protective plastic covering over the windows, which makes the church look a bit less attractive. The beer was great, the location fun and different, and I'm sure we'll be back on one of our trips to Champaign. Finally, I loved the monarch logo.

While the location is great and the interior with the exposed brick walls of this historic space is cool, service and food are unfortunately sub-par. Burgers are overcooked and dry, service is sketchy and borderline condescending. It seems that locals are served first, even if they arrive later. It also seems to help if you wear camouflage.

My boyfriend's family lives in the area and we almost always stop by this wonderful little establishment to pick up pies. I have yet to have one that I didn't like. The Pecan Pie is delicious - you cannot go wrong with it.

Located just north west off of the hometown square in Monticello this quaint hometown bar is the place to meet friends have a cold drink and some great bar food! Michelle the owner is usually on hand to greet you and make you feel right at home.
Always welcomed by a friendly staff including Jeremy behind the bar and "Johnny K” cooking your favorites this bar has a friendly comfortable environment.
The 219 offers a good variety of draft as well as domestic and imported bottles and a full bar. There is video poker for those with a gambling itch and a grill that turns out one of the best burgers in town as well as a good mix of other items.
Judging on the turnout, one of the most popular weekly specials is the "Thursday Burger Special” with a burger of your choice and fries or home made pub chips for $5 and a Domestic Bucket of Beer for $5. On Tuesday you can’t go wrong with the “Taco Tuesday” special of Grilled Chicken Tacos for $2, I usually get a few! Also available on a limited basis occasionally is a locally raised Bison Burger that is to die for.. very tasty. If your not in the mood for a burger I suggest the wings with fries, always tasty, try the “Holly Hell” sauce.
"Think & Drink Trivia” fill up Wednesday evenings, while music or Karaoke is usually found on Fridays and Saturday nights.
Slide on in…. to the Fieldhouse it’s worth the stop, it won’t be your last!

The "Fairway" restaurant at the Monticello Golf Club is just delightful. Luke Kennedy, the new chef/manager, hasn't served anything that we didn't love so far. Flavor combinations and unique creations offer larger metro area cuisine in small town USA.The Spring Greens salad is a summer staple. A large outdoor patio allows guests to enjoy the view of the golf course while sipping a cocktail or enjoying your meal. Very satisfying and enjoyable.
