House Of Flavors

We opted to stop in to House if Flavors for lunch. There are lots of reasonably priced home style options on the menu. We got the grilled ham and cheese as well as the Turkey sandwich in gravy. Both were hot and satisfying. There is a clear emphasis on deserts there and while I was contemplating whether to get one or not, our server said we get a scoop of ice cream with our meal - bonus! The atmosphere was a bit corny being over the top 1950s style, but we left happy!

This place may not be for everybody but give it a try. There is a great park across the street. Get it to go and eat at a picnic table overlooking Lake Michigan. Perfect for a summer afternoon lunch!

Cops & Doughnuts McDonald’s Precinct

The Historic McDonald's Bakery has been open since 1898 in beautiful Ludinton, Michigan on the corner of Dowland St and James St (Historic US-10) at the entrance to the S.S. Badger.

This little shop is near the S.S. Badger car ferry loading area. The police/cops theme is a pretty cute idea, and the young lady providing counter service was great fun. It's a "mom-and-pop" type store, so don't go in expecting a chain.

The day we were there they had bismarks in raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, custard, and creme. They also had some nice looking bacon long johns, which I did not try. There is a "day-old" cabinet there as well.

I was totally distracted by the cookies. The chocolate chip was a nice cookie, but I was intrigued by the Oatmeal raisin cookie with date filling. Oh, gosh it was good! I may have to work on that one at home.

While I wouldn't consider this a "destination" food location, I certainly wouldn't hesitate to stop by if I was passing by in the neighborhood or in downtown Ludington.

Riverflats offers friendly service and a handful of tables in a comfy space, as well as a full array of coffee beverages and teas. We tried both a breakfast sandwich (offered all day) and deli sandwich; both were excellent. An excellent place to stop for breakfast or lunch.

This is a pizza place.

Someone told me this was the best pizza EVER, so I had to try it. I went in....weekday evening, busy place...mostly take-outs. Not fancy at all.

Ordered a small, 3 item pizza with a salad. Salad came right away, but the pizza took a while.....worth waiting for.
Truly one of the best pizzas I've ever had!!

Chef John's Bakery & Cafe

I know some days are better than others but we didn't get their best day. We were seated immediately but service was slow (40 min) to get our food. They appeared to be short-handed on help. Our waitress was very friendly and worked hard. Ultimately we decided that the food was nothing spectacular. The buttermilk pancakes were rather heavy, but the scrambled eggs were very good. The blueberry pancakes were also kind of dry and heavy and the blueberries were mushy and not very tasty. The sausage links were good though. Poached eggs were a little over cooked but the home fries were a little undercooked (not browned). The eggs roulade were excellent but the potatoes again could have been crisper. The atmosphere was a bit dated and didn't feel especially clean as a result (water stained ceiling tiles, old wall finishes and decor). I think this place can and probably does a better job with food quality and service than we received today.

I always love getting peanut butter fudge and popcorn with almonds and pecans. The popcorn cost $22.00, but it is so good! They had a special of buy two slices of fudge get one slice free. I had to ask about any specials since I did not see any signs. I tasted the roasted cocunut and chocolate fudge and it was good too! I have been to Kilwins in other cities in Michigan, and it never disappoints!

Curious burger choices but oh so delish!! The cherry bourbon is now my favorite-sweet and salty. Burger cooked exactly how I wanted it-medium; it is rare to get it cooked just right. My wife had the perch and lightly breaded. Get the house-made kettle chips-some if the best ever; not greasy, but crispy and a nice flavor. Go a little early (4-6?) there is a cheese and cracker table to enjoy free. I don’t drink beer, but there were many choices. Our server was terrific friendly, helpful and attentive! Will go again and again. Our 3rd-4th time here. Cozy room towards the back with a corner fireplace. Fills up fast after 5p; popular with the locals-so you know it’s good!!

A true Ludington secret located just a half block off of Ludington Avenue. Specializing in made from scratch, American fare for breakfast and lunch. The place is small so come early and beat the crowds

Reviewed By Char S - Munster, Indiana

Stopped in for breakfast after reading good reviews and were glad we did. I loved my eggs benedict. It wasn't made with the traditional Canadian bacon which I was happy about. It was served with some nice ham over a slightly crispy muffin. The Hollandaise sauce was not super rich or overbearing -- just delicious! The hash browns were good but very pale in color and really needed to be browned so that some of the grease could be absorbed. I should have remembered to request them browned I guess. Still, I thought my plate of food was very good and would order it again. My husband (an oatmeal fanatic) LOVED his "baked" (didn't know that existed) oatmeal. It had craisins or cherries in it as well as cinnamon. He also got a side of bacon which he said was delicious. The other couple with us enjoyed their fried eggs and bacon as well and said the coffee was good too.

The server was very friendly and efficient. We would definitely return here next time in Ludington.
