I've been staying in Connecticut with some friends and we were looking for a place to eat before driving home. We stopped at the West Street Grill and were really impressed by the great food, kind service and the hospitality of the owner. He gave us two free appetizers and a complimentary entrée- we take enjoyed our meal and will definitely return if we find ourselves in Litchfield again.

This place has been around awhile and the food never disappoints. Quiches, pies, cakes, pastries.....and the BREAD!!!.....OMG. All baked fresh daily. Many varieties to pick from. No bad choices here. Bakery is in a basement. Parking is tricky. Entrance is a little precarious to navigate. But it's all worth it. Going to a friend's house for dinner? Pick up dessert here. you'll be a hit.

Stopped for ice cream on a warm night.. line was out the door .. all inside and outdoor seats filled. Everyone happy and smiling either anticipating the fabulous ice cream... or licking away at the double scoop waffle cones. No one minds the wait.. it's part of the Peaches experience.
In these crazy times it's nice to have a little nostalgia.. love Peaches and Cream

As mentioned in my other review, we stayed at one of the cottages, which includes breakfast, which were excellent. The breakfast dishes changed each morning (or at least the two mornings we were there) and were quite creative. We also had dinner one night and it was fantastic, albeit not cheap. They also have a great wine list and the service was attentive.

Lovely fall Sunday afternoon, so many folks were stopping in to enjoy the ice cream made at this local dairy with the milk from their pampered cows. Efficient staff moved the line along, generously filling waffle cones, regular cones and cups with the customers' choices out of several flavors -- you can even combine 2 flavors in "one" dip! I put the "one" in quotes because one dip filled the waffle cone, so two dips would be an incredible amount.

This spot isn't just a bakery but a coffee shop and grab and go takeout spot too. They make terrific salads, pastas and healthful and unhealthful but delicious baked goods. The are always changing up the offerings so you have new things to try. I love the lobster bisque, salted pretzels, lemon squares, shrimp skewers, peanut butter things and the PMS cake.

Wonderful intimate restaurant in Bantam, CT. We had an unrushed, delicious dinner. We were also able to bring our own wine, for, compared to NYC corkage fees, a very reasonable price. Chicken liver dumplings and crispy lamb spare ribs for apps. Roulad of pasteurized chicken and the strip loin steak for main courses. All imaginative and delicious. Will be coming back.

Having enjoyed the ice cream and Arethusa fine dining, as well as their various products in the local stores, I had to try the cafe.
I arrived just after they opened on a Saturday morning. I was a little concerned at first as the display of goods seems a bit sparse. I shouldn't have, as they were quickly loading the display with all manner of freshly baked goods. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. The bagel was good. The exterior well crusted with all sorts of savory bits and seeds. The exterior was crisp and yielded to that soft interior easily. The smoked salmon was very good. Not to salty and very fresh. I ordered a selection of donuts to bring home. Their Bantam Cream filled donut is ethereal. There is nothing like a fresh donut. Not greasy at all. And the cream filling was a throwback to my childhood when donuts were made with care and real ingredients, not unpacked from a tub and jammed into a pastry. I also had a very smooth cup of coffee. I just went with the counter top offering but they serve stump town and even a nitro brew. The place was immaculate. I know I arrived as they opened but they keep it very clean. The staff was nice. I've seen reviews where people knock them but if you've ever worked in a bakery, some of those people may have been in really early to have prepped and baked to have fresh goods available at 7 a.m. My take is this is another quality Arethusa venture.

This is our goto shop whenever my wife entertains in the German style.
It is almost an hour ride for us but worth it.
If you want brotchen on the weekend, be sure to call in your order early as they go quickly.
This is also the place to put together your picnic lunch if you are going wine tasting.
I highly recommend this shop as your gateway to upper Litchfield county.

Spent an overnight in Litchfield, CT recently, and checked TA for dinner ideas. The Litchfield Saltwater Grille was the #2 restaurant, but it had a broader menu than #1 so that is what we chose, and we were not at all disappointed. Friendly staff, nice menu and great food. The sweet potato crab cakes were both unique and delicious, and the lemon caper sole was the best we’ve had anywhere. Broad beer, wine and cocktail selections also. Even the vinegar and oil on the table was special. Don’t be put off by the location in the back of a (very nice) shopping plaza - once inside, you will feel as if you are in an historic Litchfield tavern. Highly recommend!
