Thirigayha Restaurant

Also known as the Seven Sisters Restaurant. Listed in 2009 Lonely Planet guide for Myanmar, page 228.

Reviewed By 654GregP654 - Cheltenham, United Kingdom

After a strenuous trek we went to Seven Sisters for an early supper. It started very well: fried rice noodles and fish in banana leaves were excellent. Then a party of 18 arrived and service went pear-shaped. We were ignored for 20 minutes then found a member of staff in the kitchen area and managed to order two desserts . The pear and chocolate flambé arrived quickly and was delicious. Only after three more reminders did the pancake filed with papaya arrive, and I wish it hadn't , as the pancake was thick enough to resole a shoe with and was leathery. We didn't have the heart to complain. Despite that and the waits, our overall impression was favourable, and the meal offered good value

Reasonable food and prices and comforting on a cold night, a bit Blanc for our tastes. We are luck to have excellent Indian food where we live though and this just didn't come close.

Tet Nay Win Teahouse

Reviewed By daiquiritoo - Paris, France

We stop there to have dinner as the food looks very tasting , especially the samosa; In fact they were excellent , and the other dishes we took to ( I forgot the same , sorry )
This tea house has been open since a long time ( about 15 years ) and is still run by the same friendly family ; A perfect place to have a tea ( or a coffee ) and see the village life . Warmly recommended; Prices very low too

Pyae Pyae

Reviewed By Randy H - Grande Prairie, Canada

We visited Pyae Pyae on the suggestion of the owner of our hotel and we got a great meal!
The restaurant is not fancy but it serves GREAT food, which is my kind of place.
We ordered the Shan noodle salad, meatball noodle soup, and the clay pot noodle soup.
I've been travelling in Asia for nearly 4 months and the clay pot soup was the best soup I've had so far, which is saying something!
Our meal cost was 8,000 kyat for 8 people, and for and amazing meal!

Dream

Reviewed By PlayaLes - Bradenton, Florida

I had dinner here tonight at the recommendation of my guide. I started with pumpkin soup which was quite nice so I was excited for the meal. Then my guide was served fish with lime, which turned out to be a sweet and sour lime sauce that tasted like Rose's Lime Juice. Nasty stuff. My guide is from Myanmar and she couldn't even eat it. Next an avocado salad appeared which was very nice. But finally my prawns in hot and sour sauce arrived ... I only had one bite because the smell of the prawns was so .... prawny! Lol. I mean so strong and unappetizing I had them remove the dish from the table. Sadly we were both very disappointed. I don't think I would risk another visit.

Home Again

Reviewed By Tanja A - Pforzheim, Germany

We came here for lunch and had one vegetarian and one chicken curry. The vegetarian curry was very delicious even though a lot of potatoes in it. The chicken curry is more or less just chicken and was ok, but not very good.
The service was very nice and friendly and the food was freshly cooked. We had two juices which were ok.
In total we payed 7.000 Kyats for two mains with rice and two drinks.
It is a little bit difficult to find and the address here on Tripadvisor is wrong (see photo).

Hi snack & drink

Reviewed By Keith-Di - Brisbane, Australia

Went here for pre-dinner drinks and found the place patronised by local men enjoying themselves over a drink and a cigarette. It is a small, horse-shoe shaped bar with sixteen fixed stools around the bar plus a couple of tables (so expect to stand) in a narrow, dimly lit room. The atmosphere was great with lots of chatter and laughter. The man behind the bar made rum sours of varying potency and it was good to mingle with the locals who were out enjoying themselves. It got quite crowded as the night progressed.

I had the squid salad and fried watercress, they were perfectly executed and respected my request of no salt/no chilly. The meal came with ten different (free) sides/sauces/pickles, offering a unique chance to sample some of the typical flavours of the country. Prices on menu did not include the tax but the total bill was very reasonable anyway!

This is a little off the beaten track but well worth making the effort to go and see. Such a beautiful and peaceful setting which we really appreciated after a couple of days in Yangon! The owner is absolutely delightful and will chat away to you. She makes everything from scratch including her pesto, feta cheese and bread. We had a pizza and pasta with chicken, garlic, sun blushed tomatoes and feta. The pasta was exceptionally good. We washed it down with two freshly made juices. Would recommend to everybody.
