Top 10 restaurants in Jamestown, United States

April 14, 2018 Etsuko Causey

Once known as "The Furniture Capital of the World," industry has long since deserted Jamestown, a sleepy town on the tip of beautiful Chautauqua Lake, a popular fishing and sailing destination. The town is the home of the Lucy-Desi Museum and Desilu Playhouse, both built in honor of the town's most famous daughter. Jamestown also contains The Audubon Center, which features a 600 acre nature sanctuary with five miles of observation and hiking paths and is the home of Liberty, a local bald eagle.

Tim Hortons

I realize that the photos used in advertising depict perfection, but my panini was not even close. Visited for lunch, hoping to avoid the burger places. All things considered, would have fared better at a burger place. Ordered the chicken panini and it was an inedible mess. Didn't open the wrapper/bag until returning to work. After waiting over 15 minutes for it, I expected a lot more than what I received. If you cannot make a decent sandwich, then just sell donuts and coffee.

The description via the T.H. website: Tuscan Chicken Panini - Seasoned white meat chicken topped with fresh tomatoes, baby spinach, and red onions, drizzled with a creamy sundried tomato sauce, all on sourdough panini bread and grilled to perfection.

The reality via my visit: Tuscan (three pieces of) Chicken Panini - plain, bubble-gummish meat without tomatoes, wilting spinach, and two slivers of red onions, drenched in sour dressing, on soggy bread with a couple of light grill-marks.

People of Jamestown/Falconer, go somewhere else.

We always passed by on our way thru Jamestown, and decided to stop. I am so glad we did! The cases were filled with the most delectable sweets you could imagine. It was hard to decide! I chose 1/2 dozen donuts, and a coffee cake. The prices were so reasonable. The chain market bakery items all taste the same...tasteless chemical tasting dough and skimpy frostings and fillings. Not this place, my favorite was the chocolate covered white creme filled donut...this rivals another shoppe in Erie and I think they have them beat! Not stingy with the frosting or filling! The coffee cake was delectable. They also have a deli and fresh coffee available. We will definitely stop again!! They are now open on Sunday till 1 PM.

Havana Cuban Cafe and Pizzeria

We stopped here for lunch before going to the Lucy Museum which is nearby. Great service from the owner who told us his brother and mom were in the kitchen so happy to support a local, family run business. I didn't know what to expect with Cuban food but it was great and priced better than I expected it to be. Had the chicken plate that came with rice and plantains. Enjoyed it all. You order at the counter, pay and then sit down and they deliver the food. Had cuban decor and some Desi Arnez items. Also had a slideshow playing of pictures from Cuba. We always prefer local, family run places with great food over chains so very happy we ended up here.

Landmark Restaurant

Reviewed By Taylor B - Chicago, Illinois

The Landmark Restaurant in downtown Jamestown, New York, has earned a reputation as the finest restaurant in Chautauqua County. Located at 516 West 4th Street, near Baker Park, and a short walk from the Best Western Plus Downtown Jamestown, it is an elegant testament to fine dining, a large and luxurious main dining room, a comfortable and spacious bar area, outdoor dining and a spiffy private dining room. But the menu is what caught my eye from the second I sat down. Remember the last time you saw a restaurant menu that looked as if you had written it yourself, that included every delicious appetizer and salad and pasta and steak and seafood and dessert you ever dreamed about? That's how I felt after reading Landmark's menu. But what to choose? Honestly, it took some time. After driving for eight hours, my wife and I were tired and hungry, looking for a burst of energy. We finally arrived at some hard decisions. We started with bruschetta (diced tomatoes, chopped garlic and Italian herbs served on garlic bread with melted mozzarella) and bacon wrapped scallops. We also shared a Caesar salad. Sorry, shrimp cocktail and cream of crab soup. Maybe next time. Entrees? We reluctantly narrowed our list of possibilities to Veal Marsala, Beef Wellington, rack of lamb, 8-ounce filet, bone-in ribeye, Faroe Island salmon, halibut, Jamaican Jerk Mahi-Mahi served on pineapple risotto with key lime butter, shrimp and filets, scallops and filets and Seafood Norfolk (sauteed scallops and shrimp served on panko-crusted haddock). What would you choose? My wife couldn't resist an old favorite, Mahi-Mahi, while I couldn't pass up the Seafood Norfolk. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choices. For dessert, the creme brulee and peanut butter pie tart were highly recommended. We could understand why. This is a four-star, fine dining restaurant that belongs in Chicago or Charleston or San Francisco or New York. Or Cooperstown.

Had to stop for a gift card for our son because he enjoys it. Obviously, they're all across the country, but what's the big deal about them. Everything is way over-priced, but it is good quality. This one has many gift selections, at least at Christmastime they did. Just don't feel they're a very good value. Opinions vary. It's just nothing special to me as I prefer Dunkin Donuts over them.

Can't believe Johnny's would not be listed. This lunchonette has been around for 70 years I believe. They have served millions and millions of Hot Dogs, with their special sauce. A counterpart luncheonette, AJ's Texas Hots in Jamestown is listed.

Forte

On our big day drive from MKE, WI to Jamestown, NY - 6 states in one day, we arrived rather late at Forte, a well-known restaurant in this funky sweet NY town - where the Lucille Ball Festival runs every summer in early August.
We love sitting at the bar in most restaurants we go to, especially new ones, if the tender of the bar has a pleasant aura. Nick sure did so we took 2 stools at the bar's end. We could see the place serves sushi - which we love and the toga Roshi tuna has a delicious description. Ordered. It was the end of the serving time of 9 PM and one never knows what may come out of the kitchen. We were pleasantly surprised on all fronts - the presentation and the taste and freshness were terrific. I suggest anyone who likes sushi & tuna - order & enjoy.
Great atmosphere at Forte too and we met nice folks sitting at the bar.
