Arhus

Arhus is located along the Ranga River, 100 km east of Reykjavik on the Ring road, Route 1. It is set in idyllic fields on the banks of the river. The restaurant serves a rich variety of local plates and global favourites. We also have a fully-stocked bar and a Terrace overlooking the river, perfect for relaxing on a sunny evening.

Menu selection is not as big as I expected but they do have enough including horse steak.
I was wondering what local cuisine they would serve. Salmon or lamb soup ? I wanted to have lamb soup but they didn't have it unfortunately. They do have soup of the day, though.
Funny thing is they serve Teriyaki flavoured rice noodle. I thought that I wanted to try it but ended up having Grilled chicken (comes with polenta !) It is very tasty but made me thirsty a bit later. Portion was perfect as I was hungry anyway. Not too huge, not too small.
You can order alcohol as well. I am not sure if they serve wine by glass though.
I had rather early dinner, so the place wasn't packed at all. Waitress was informative about each dish and it was served properly.
I don't think the restaurant is open between lunch and dinner. In my memory, it is open for dinner around 1730 or so.

Kannslarinn

Terrible food, expensive menu (even by Icelandic standards), and extremely shabby & dated interior to top it off. My husband had a chicken burger, straight out of the freezer and I had a margarita pizza, incredibly doughy. There may not be a plethora of places to eat around here but I would advise to give this place a miss. Service was ok, restaurant was quiet.

On an island where you nearly have to pay to breathe it is a breath of fresh air when a business charges reasonable prices for excellent food.
Having walked to the top of Skogafoss and then a further 3 miles, by the time we returned to the car we were starving. Had heard rumors of a fish and chip fan near Skogar so was pleased when we found Mia's.
The food did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and excellently cooked as were the chips. Multiple dips to choose from as well as soft drinks.
Food came out piping hot, cooked to perfection and we didnt have to wait long! So good!!!

After a walk behind the iconic Seljalandsfoss waterfall, visitors can take a moment to digest the experience by the Seljalandsfoss Shop. It is owned by two Icelandic families who spend their early mornings preparing fresh sandwiches, cakes and traditional soup for the day. Beverages are served as well, and using local products of high quality is a priority for the owners. Next to the food wagon, an additional souvenir shop is offering homemade wool sweaters and exclusive Icelandic accessories. If you're lucky, and the sun is shining, a young musician sometimes completes the atmosphere by playing on his acoustic guitar. In summer you might see a beautiful rainbow, in winter you could see another art from nature, the northern lights.

We were excited to dine at this restaurant, but had a bad experience. The dining room is pretty, but we waited 45 minutes after ordering to get our dinner. The food was decent, but certainly nothing special for the expensive price.
One of the staff finally came over and explained that they had a large wedding party upstairs as well as a new menu which started that day. They offered us free dessert to make up for the delay.
We decided to get the dessert cheese platter thinking that would be quick. That took another 45 minutes!!
We had a way better meal at the local pizzeria tonight!
