Fribourg (French pronunciation: [fʁibuʁ]; Arpitan: Fribôrg or Friboua, pronounced [fʁibwa] ( listen)) or Freiburg (German, or Freiburg im Üechtland, Swiss German pronunciation: [ˈfrib̥ʊrɡ]; Italian: Friborgo or Friburgo; Romansh: Friburg) is the capital of the Swiss canton of Fribourg and the district La Sarine. It is located on both sides of the river Saane/Sarine, on the Swiss Plateau, and is a major economic, administrative and educational center on the cultural border between German and French Switzerland (Romandy). Its Old City, one of the best-maintained in Switzerland, sits on a small rocky hill above the valley of the Sarine.

Centrally located and near the train station, seems popular with tourists and some locals. The menu has English subtitles and the waiter wanted to speak English. Two of us shared a plate of "Valais" meats - ham and dried beef along with cornichons, pieces of Gruyere, etc. and we had raclette - very good. The raclette came out with little personal candle light melters, like the ones you buy for camping (or for tourists). We had a bottle of the local wine. It all worked out to an enjoyable meal with excellent service.

visited this place during a business trip in July 2017.
we had a starter which was a collection of italian delicacies you could choose from.
as a main dish we had aged veal that perfectly cooked and tender.the personal was extremely friendly and efficient, though the english of the one serving was vey basic , to put it mildly
the strongest asset of this place is the great selection of Italian wines, would recommend Tignanello of course . one can either sit inside or outside in the traditional streets of Freiburg
recommend this place

Why no star? We've visited many starred restaurants in France that aren't half as fine as this place. Reserved a table for two, arrived a little early and was met by a beautiful young lady who gave us the absolute best attention. Quality of the dinner was as good as any we've found for several months. Excellent wine list and friendly (and appreciated) conversation with the chef / owner. This place isn't cheap (what IS cheap in Switzerland), but it's of high quality and comes with our thumbs-up rating. We will return. Where's the Michelin boys who rate places like this?

Honestly I think the place is over rated. The service is good and amiable but the food is very average at best. The resturant has a nice atmosphere but it is so small you are practically touching the stranger next to you not ot mention hearing all the conversation.
I ordered spring rolls, I expected to get the rolls wrapped in rice wraps, instead I got the deep fried one!! Flavor was ok but the sauce too weak for my taste. The main dish was carmaised fish. I could tell the fish was not the best and the dish lacked character so I had to douse it with hot sauce. It came with a bowl of white rice so quantity wise it was ok.
All-in-all it was average no more.

We ate lunch in the garden and what a treat it was. Big tables, well spaced (although the cigar smoke from our neighbours was not great), comfortable chairs. Good service, nice bread selection. Then came the food. Foie gras with black rice - fantastic; giant prawns with ginger - lovely; veal and lobster - luxury; quail with foie gras - sumptuous. Great sharing plate of Deserts, coffee and more sweets. Great wine list, inc. half bottles. Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but very well worth it. We will return.

Four out of four locals immediately suggested this restaurant over any other for a best "fribourgoise" fondue experience. Their advice was good! Fabulous service and delightful taste treat. We had the Moitie-moitie which includes the local vacherin and white wine. We had a bottle of a nice local white wine with it (see picts). Finished with a nice coffee.

LA CÈNE Your fine dining restaurant in the heart of Fribourg. More than 600 wines on the list, smoking lounge, great cocktail bar.
If for nothing other than a grown-up, stylish place to grab a drink with some friends, you should give La Cène a try...but you really should think about staying for dinner.
After a first look at the menu, I was convinced I wouldn't be dining at La Cène that evening, but the waitress and the kitchen were so unbelievably accommodating when I asked if they could offer something without meat I couldn't help but be impressed. Though there were no meat-free options on the menu, the kitchen came up with four different suggestions in a matter of minutes.
La Cène has the feel of a big city lounge bar as you enter, followed by a uniquely arranged dining area. The wait staff was friendly, helpful and present without being overbearing.

Went there for a celebration party. We were a few dozens sharing drinks and food. Service was very attentive given the numbers. And food was good. But what really makes a difference at the Aigle-Noir is the wonderful view, as you can see from the pictures.
Next time I'll be in Fribourg, I look forward to trying the restaurant again.
