We had heard about this bakery from family living the San Antonio area and decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise! After making our selections, the box was not quite full so the young lady told us to choose six more to fill the box at no cost. Now who offers this level of customer service these days!?! Highly recommend this bakery and would go back in a heartbeat.

Based on the TripAdvisor rating (#1), we stopped at the Castroville Café for lunch. We were not disappointed at all. The outdoor patio is very nice with beautiful trees around. The restaurant is set in an old Alsation house with a nice outdoor covered porch as well. The server was very cordial and helpful. We had the chicken fried steak with green beans & mash potatoes. It was one of the best chicken fried steaks I have had. Same for the mash potatoes, green beans & the dinner roll. It was a Monday so only lunch was being served from 11am-3pm. It is obviously a favorite of the locals. One gentleman, upon hearing we were from Houston, gave us an impromptu history lesson of Castroville's history. In fact, the Castroville Café sits next to the small parcel of land where Henri Castro had his homestead until the late 1890's. I would definitely come back.

Situated in the Historic District of Castroville in an old Magnolia gas station, Octane roasts their beans in-house. Great people, very good coffee, excellent morning scenery.
From their website, "Octane Coffee and Tea Haus is located in the historic Magnolia Gas Station in Castroville, Texas. We feature collaborative trade coffee sourced from Rwanda."

We stopped and ate at this Dairy Queen both going and coming back from the Frio River on vacation this past week. On the way there my husband and I shared a steak finger basket as we were not really hungry, just ready to stop for awhile and stretch our legs. It was ready quite quickly and tasted very good with the gravy that is served with it. My husband liked the toast that comes with it. We also needed to buy some adult beverages before we hit Concan so there is Jenn's Liquor right next door and we walked over there when we got through eating so that was handy. After spending 5 days on the Frio River we were heading home with our 8 year old grandson and we were kind of in a hurry as my grandson's baseball team was having a playoff game that evening, so we stopped there again and the food was even better (hunger-busters this time) and quicker. We were still filling our drinks when they brought out our meal- WOW!!!!!!!!!! My grandson had a kids meal chicken strip meal w/fries and an ice cream sandwich. He said it was real good. We were able to get back on the road in 20 minutes which help us tremendously time wise. I don't think this building is very old as everything seems quite new and all the employees I encountered were extremely friendly. If in the area I would return for a hot, fast meal.

Excellent food, great service and they joked with my kids. Only reason there isn't five stars here is they were out of peach cobbler and it's my favorite. Other than that, next time I'm in Castroville, I won't have to guess where I'm going to eat. Great little restaurant.

This is a great addition to Castroville. Service is fast and always with a smile!
They have an amazing variety of food that is continuously coming out of the oven fresh and great coffee/espresso, soda and juice.
The prices a very reasonable and there is interior seating and a drive through lane.

The place is out by itself in country... It is a throw back and screams Texas. Beyond the decor.. The food was pretty average. Nachos were good... Not the best i had ever had.. But most likely the best in Castroville. The staff was really nice.

Stopped to get a bite from San Antonio on the way to Del Rio. We were interested because of the high ratings and wanted something different. This place def impressed us. Everything was fresh, well made, and very tasty. We had Korean, Indian, and Argentinian (and grilled cheese for our toddler but she ate everything and would have eaten more butter chicken if we did gobble it all up). Beautiful place and wonderful staff. We will def return. Oh and the chef will make specific Indian dinners if you call ahead.

We ordered from the special of the day-- a crepe with creamy mushroom sauce and grilled chicken plus a cobb salad-- split them between two people. We were there at sunset and the view was amazing-- on a nice day it would be great sit on the terrace. The food was plentiful and very tasty. The bartender wasn't familiar with the cocktails we ordered but she did a great job and offered to remake them if we weren't pleased. The dining room is large and there wasn't a crowd therefore it was a little distracting to hear the conversations of the other dining guests but we would go back.

This was a decent restaurant very friendly staff and very quick service. The menu has a variety of options for breakfast food. The coffee was on point. The omelette I had was very delicious and the toast, had just the right amount of butter. Very quiet restaurant and definitely family oriented.
