The Lobster Pot

Reviewed By 72Mary - Newcastle, United Kingdom

Visited here on recommendation while we were staying in a rented cottage a few miles away.
For starters I chose crab claws which were pretty uninspiring.
My partner opted for potato skins which looked like they had come from a freezer shop.
Both our starters and main dishes were served on cold plates, this is never acceptable in my opinion and demonstrates lack of care for the customer.
My partner opted for Hennessy chicken, at almost 20€ we were expecting something special, this was not the case, bland sauce, mediocre piece of chicken and the dish was literally smothered in mushrooms which overwhelmed the whole flavour of this dish, this was served with a portion of just okay chips again in a cold dish.
My main was scampi tails again priced at almost 20€, this dish was terrible!
The scampi was fried in thick and greasy batter, I attempted to remove some of the batter but it was stuck to the tiniest and mushiest scampi tails....really awful. The grease hardened on the cold plate and was so unappetising.
I informed the waitress that I was unhappy with the dish, she told me she would inform chef but did not feedback to me.
When I enquired what chefs response was she babbled some excuse that is how the dish was served!! Apalling service.
The American owner was fully aware of these difficulties as he was stood at the bar and made no attempt to intervene or rectify.
We were charged 72€ for this Shambles of a meal, this include 2 small wines and one and a half pints of Guinness.
Totally overpriced and unappetising.
I would not reccomend

The Bayview Bar

One of the good things about eating out in rural Ireland is that you always get healthy portions and the Bay View is no exception .I ordered the home made burger with pepper sauce and it arrived with two burgers on a bed of mash potato and pepper sauce. It also came with a side of chips and mixed veg. This large portion was very welcoming on a cold winter's day.The burger was very good and all food was hot and served by very pleasant staff. Will return on my next visit to Dungloe.

Sean Og

Friendly staff give brilliant service and the food is excellent! My advice is to book your table so you don’t have to wait too long. The mussels are excellent and the bowl is over flowing when brought to the table. Prices are inline with most restaurants and the drink is great! Try some of the local craft lagers!

Golden Dragon Restaurant

Reviewed By Globetrotter1984_10 - Glasgow, United Kingdom

My two friends and I recently visited the Golden Dragon on Good Friday 2014. This restaurant offers both take-away and sit-down options and I have to say that my two friends and I were most impressed with this establishment. The Seating area looks like it has been prepared for a wedding ceremony - seat covers, table cloths, linen napkins etc.
The staff were very pleasant and attentive throughout our visit and although on first inspection you may think that the prices are quite expensive, in reality, they are very competitive for the sheer quality of the food on offer.
I opted for the vegetable spring rolls which were very tasty. Our mains consisted of a vegetable curry, king prawn fried rice with chips and bbq sauce and a prawn dish (can't remember the exact name). Hopefully the pictures do the food some justice but all in all, a fabulous experience and I'm sure we will return in the future.

Peppers Diner

Peppers Diner is Gweedores most popular diner and takeaway restaurant. It provides the food, fun and friendliness of a feel-good family restaurant. Peppers boast great tasting food from a menu of favorites including juicy burgers, pizzas, southern fried chicken and fresh fish. Pepper's Diner is renowned for its home-made style chips (French fries) and with good reason. Their chips are freshly cut in-house each morning. If you want something lighter there is a fantastic salad bar or a slimming world option or your choice of pizzas, wraps, panini and sandwiches made to your own liking or a warm bowl of hearty vegetable soup. Or simply relax and enjoy the excellent coffee with a slice of cake. Pepper's Diner also boasts a superb breakfast menu served between 9am to 12noon with a wide selection of choice including classic favorite such as full-Irish breakfast. Customers also enjoy a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The diner is bright, clean and airy. Pepper's is located in the heart of Gweedore on the main road between Bunbeg and Derrybeg. Diners can also enjoy the beautiful sea view while they dine. If you're planning to visit Gweedore's most popular diner and takeaway, be sure to try some local favorites such as their chicken fillet burger, fresh haddock and chips or their famous chip butty.

As we were beside the sea on holidays, we ate at Peppers Diner and we all (four of us) ordered the fresh fish and homecut chips. (We sat in).
Yummy Yummy! Absolutely delicious!
Service was fast, food excellent.
We ordered ice cream for the children to take away when we were leaving but they had no spoons left & we were offered forks! We had a good laugh!

We went to the Bird sanctuary in Burt and called in for coffee. It was packed and we had a long wait for our coffee. It was worth the wait. The staff were nice and friendly and you could see why it is so popular. Tip for future customers, check out the car park first. It was packed when we called. The Gap coffee shop is easy to find just off the main roundabout in Bridgend.

Although not renowned for its Restaurants , Bunbeg has added a gem to its food landscape . The Blue Door opened during the summer of 2014 . Strangely enough it has a blue front door and is housed within the Bunbeg Lodge B&B / Guest House .
Freshly cut flowers , white linen , and contemporary furniture give it a cosy friendly atmosphere . Our party of four enjoyed heart warming chowder and an unusual but delicious goats cheese , beetroot and walnut salad . Mains served up a heavenly herb crusted hake , mouth watering monk fish and a stylish salmon. All were accompanied with an abundance of fresh hot vegetables and a variety of potatoes .
As if all that isn't enough you bring your own wine which all in all makes for a very tasty evening , enjoying fine food at a reasonable price .
Only open Friday and Saturday during the Winter .
