Matacanes Canyon

Reviewed By Elisabetta V

20km / 10hours walking, climbing, rappelling, swimming, sliding and jumping through the canyon. It has 30 water jumps with the highest compulsory being 7 metres and highest optional 12 metres. It is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen.
I think it not very famous internationally but it definitely would deserve to be!

Cascada del Chipitin

Really enjoyed the aesthetic rappels into the canyon. Long expose and free hanging... we connected Chipitin with AquaPhobia for a long day that was worth every moment. Be sure and take water as the spring were dry and our group of 12 ran short.

Parque Ecoturistico Cola De Caballo

Reviewed By Jonatan E - Guadalajara, Mexico

After a nice breakfast in “La Abuela” and a walk in downtown Santiago we headed to “Cola de Caballo” park. The way to get there is nice and green and hills surrounded. You have to be prepare to walk or you can rent a horse pulled taxi to get you to the top, but even from the parking place to the entrance is some walking distance. If you visit it on winter make sure to take your jumper or coat. There are some tables and grills to do a picnic if you want to spend some time with friends or family. There are many toilets and clean enough. You can find lots of small shops to buy souvenirs or drinks like micheladas or beer. The way to the top is nice and full of nature. There is also the option to rent a horseback riding. The waterfall is beautiful, I recommend you to get to the highest point possible and enjoy the drops and the sound of the water falling. There are many spots to take some great pictures. If you visit with children get ready to carry them as they could get tired. As the place is beautiful it gets crowd so take it easy, relax and enjoy. At the location you can also find a hotel, a nice restaurant with stunning views, a small canopy ride and a bungee jump.

Presa La Boca

Large lake contained by a dam and popular among tourists and residents alike for its Water Sports and fishing.

Reviewed By bryanmantezoni - USA

This place gets really crowded during the weekend, here you will observe the low, lower and lowest Mexican classes drinking outside their cars with doors open and music very loud and if you look at them you know trouble is on your way. Police not present at all and if they are they ignore incidents and fights. Lots of drunk people, homosexuals, prostitutes and people asking for money. They have rent of MALNOUIRISHED horses and some jet skies at a high cost.....The place is very low on water and the little water that is there it is polluted and stinks because people do not keep it clean, lots of trash every where around that I will say you have a better deal visiting Los Cavazos or Villa de Santiago. Exercise caution at all times when here.

Canopy Cola de Caballo

Canopy Cola de Caballo is a circuit of 4 zip-lines the longest with 520 feet, 2 rappels and some hiking through the woods of the Sierra Madre.

I have been to cola de caballo during my visit to Monterrey. Its not far from city center, takes around 25 to 30 minutes to drive. Once you reach, you have to walk up for about a mile or two. Road is well laid out with small Bridges and beautiful view of stream flowing along. One thing to be noticed is, couldnt find a coffee shop anywhere closer, may be local civic authorities do not encourage commercializing this place. if you are traveling alone make sure, you carry a bottle of water, some snacks or some soft drinks with you, as there isnt a place where you purchase these things. It is a perfect place to spend a day being calm away from city being close to nature. I could see local authorities carrying out work not sure what was going though. There are options to pick up bicycles from a nearby hotel, if you havent carried your own and want to experience cycling. There is also an option of bungee jumping for those of you looking for adventure. However, spot is not a perfect place for bungee with merely 70 meters of height. You have a beautiful view of the Mountains, lake around from this point. Check pictures.

Located just north east of the Presa Rodrigo Gomez in Santiago Nuevo Leon is a roadside attraction up a few hundred feet is a huge cave opening in the rock ledge which contains an unknown quantity of bats that flock out at their preferred hours to feed I assume. There is a stream of clear water cool water called Arroyo la chueca which you can wet your feet in awhile you await the cloud of bats.
