Korla, Kurla, or Kuerle (Mongolian: ᠬᠣᠷᠣᠯ; simplified Chinese: 库尔勒; traditional Chinese: 庫爾勒; pinyin: Kù'ěrlè; Uyghur: كورلا, Корла‎, lit. Krorain) is a mid-sized city in central Xinjiang, and is, administratively, a county-level city and the seat of the Bayin'gholin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, which is larger than Great Britain and is the largest Chinese prefecture. Bosten Lake is a good 2 hour drive from Korla but worth the trip, though you'll have to hire a driver. The motorboat ride is lovely--through reed-lined canals to an island. The meal prepared by locals is way too expensive so we didn't have it.

Tiemen Pass

The gate has been rebuilt following destruction during the cultural revolution. The path continues for a short distance, but ultimately is covered by a Reservoir. The unsaved path however was more reminiscent of the original Silk Road than many other sites. Other reviewers appear to have climbed the nearby mountain to a lovers shrine. We would have liked to do this, but were short of time.

Running through the middle of Korla, the city has developed it well in recent years. Along the river are little play areas, a roped off swimming area (if you are brave enough to swim in 'dirty' water), and a fairly decent path for walking. Several coffee shops can be found too. (as of 2006)

不知道因為甚麼原因,千里迢迢拉車到景區,去到蓮花湖才發現沒有蓮花,有的只是兩旁高高的蘆葦,搭著快艇前進蓮花湖,景色還是漂亮但是少了蓮花點綴讓我有點敗興而歸;
