Markovi Kuli (Marko's Towers)

Reviewed By Robert H - Washington DC, District of Columbia

I came in here on a pleasantly cool day in November. So, the hike up was very enjoyable. Might not be as enjoyable in the summer heat. On top, you are rewarded by a fantastic 360 degree view of the city of Prilep and the Pelagonian plains as well as the surrounding rugged Mountains. There are interesting unrenovated (authentic) ruins from a 700 year old fort up top. If you are fit, this is an easy walk from town. If you are not fit, this might not be for you.

Treskavec Monastery

Beautiful old monastery in dire need of renovation. There was a fire a few years ago which destroyed some of the outer buildings, but luckily the church survived.
The monastery is placed on top of a hill/mountain with a good, but very steep and curvy tarmac road leading up there. Before the road was finished you could only get to the monastery on your feet.
The church is full of wonderful wall paintings and you can only imagine how beautiful it once was.
A great place slightly away from the beaten path.

St. Archangel Michael Monastery

Reviewed By nataliegoes - Macau, China

The people I met in Prilep were all very proud of this monastery. During the communist years it was abandoned. But since the fall of the Yugoslavian state, Nuns have reclaimed this sweet little monastery on the edge of town. It is a lovely compound built up on the rocky, desert foothills, so the contrast is part of it's charm. The tiny chapel has some nice frescoes and the compound is quiet and peaceful. Photos are not permitted within the grounds of the monastery, so no need to lug it with you. If a nun is around you can get her to open the souvenir booth and purchase a short book on the monastery to give you the history, or some of the other items to help fund with their Mission. All in all it won't take very long to visit, but it can still leave a lasting impression.

Prilep's Old Bazaar

Really loved the old Macedonian bazaar. I had a face shave from an old barber for less than $2.00, while the wife shopped for clothes and jewellery. The clothes here are high quality and the cheapest in Europe.
Stopped and had a fantastic coffee, bought some fruit and ate some traditional Macedonian Maznik (A pasrty with various fillings, served with yougurt drink)
This place is fantastic to see the real Macedonia and the Prilep locals are very hospitable.

Centrally located, right across from the giant Macedonian flag. Great photo stop, in this historic location. Grab some krofni (Macedonian donuts) and sit under the statue and enjoy!

Очень красивая церковь, как снаружи, так и внутри. Был в будни днем, народу никого, поэтому в жаркий августовский день отлично насладился прохладой и тишиной собора. Рекомендую для посещения.

Holy Annunciation Church

Reviewed By Ilya M - Yaroslavl, Russia

Церковь известна еще под названиями Свето Благовештение и Старая церковь. Построена масонами еще в начале 19 века. Во дворике могила одного из македонских революционеров. В целом интересно, и на осмотр много времени не займет.
