Guardsman Pass Scenic Backway

Reviewed By AFsilverfox52 - Pasadena MD

Because we were in Park City in October, the Guardsman Pass was open to vehicle traffic.

My wife and I picked a windy, cold day to go make the drive.

The road twists and turns up and over the pass then down into Heber Valley.

On the day we made the drive the skies were crystal clear. The winds were about 20 mph. and the temps were about 20 degrees at the top.

To our surprise, a group of musicians were setting up a photo shoot at the top of the pass. Seeing a piano and cello was a big surprise.

The drive requires the upmost attention of the driver. Let the passenger enjoy the views. There are a few pull off sites.

Park City Museum

Discover Park City's history at the Park City Museum on Historic Main Street. Prospectors discovered silver in 1868 in the area that soon after became Park City. Mine owners made fortunes, while thousands of miners simply made a living. After silver prices declined, Park City reinvented itself as a ski resort town. Interactive displays tell the Park City story in an engaging manner. Fun for the whole family! Open 7 days a week (Mon-Sat 10-7, Sun 12-6).

Park City Main Street Historic District

If you’re tired of skiing or hiking, this Main Street is cute. There’s an eclectic mix of shops: art, craft, sport and casual clothes.

Many different styles of what you’d think of as ‘old west’ town: honoring their mining heritage.

Plenty of little cafes and spots to grab an ice cream when you find your energy lagging.

Alpine Coaster

Thrill seekers, meet your match on Utah's largest Alpine Coaster. The elevated track winds you through more than a mile of loops, curves and hair-pin curves at speeds up to 30 mph. Just like your favorite roller coaster - but with the refreshing mountain scenery of Park City.

Reviewed By familygalChicagoIL - Northbrook, Illinois

As theme park and roller coaster fans, my kids have rode them all from Disney to Magic Mountain to Great America. However they all got a kick out of the alpine coaster in individual cars flying through the ‘real’ mountain (versus WDWs Everest). As no one quite knew what to expect, this certainly didn’t disappoint.

That is until my 11-yr old daughter returned with an open seat belt. This was alarming. We immediately flagged it to the staff’s attention. The maintenance guy was one of the staff on hand (wearing a different guys name tag/shirt) and explained how they do daily checks. However when he took a tug on the seat belt of my daughter’s car AFTER she thankfully returned unharmed, it clearly didn’t have a secure connection and needed replacement. We attempted to alert Park City management via the guest relations desk, however nobody seemed to be available for a brief conversation. Hopefully now they will be aware of this dangerous situation and take necessary action.

Gorgoza Park

Located two miles east of Parley's Summit off of I-80, Gorgoza Park offers fun for all ages with seven tubing lanes, mini-snowmobiles, and the Fort Frosty play area for children under 3 years of age.

Reviewed By GlobalVilla9er - New York City

Gorgoza Park is a big sledding hill where they provide you an inner-tube to sled down the hill for $30 for 2 hours. This would be a great idea, in theory. Unfortunately, this isn't what actually occurs. The management here is incompetent. What actually happened in our two hours is that we waited for 1 hour and 50 minutes, while sledding for 10 minutes. The problem here is that each rider is individually loaded by an attendant, then individually unloaded, then individually permitted to sled. Imagine if you went skiing and each skier was individually loaded onto the lift, individually unloaded from the lift, and then not allowed to ski until permitted. You would spend all your time on the lift and no time skiing. This is exactly what occurs at Gorgoza. I wish it were Gorgoza Tubing Park, but it is actually Gorgoza waiting-in-line Park.

Park City Mountain Resort

Located in the heart of the restaurants, hotels, nightlife and shopping of one of America's great ski towns, Park City Mountain Resort has something for every snow enthusiast: manicured groomers, ideal learning terrain, powder-filled bowls and some of the industry's most progressive terrain parks and halfpipes.

Reviewed By Dominic M - London

Since the Resort was purchased, there have been changes. I have skied Park City three times and this trip was disappointing. Poorly groomed slopes, average food, and fewer staff. You can see belts being tightened. I will say they have excellent instructors however. We skied 3 days at Park City and 3 at Deer Valley and there was no comparison. Deer Valley was so much better.
