Blackhill Reserve

This afternoon went for an enjoyable walk around the circuit walk at Blackhill Reserve. We were fortunate in seeing a troop of kangaroos. It is so nice to see that the reclamation over the last 30 years has been so successful. Next time I will walk the ridge walk and see the rock formations more closely.

Came here for lunch on a wine tour yesterday. While the grounds boast amazing views on an amazing property the service was disappointing to say the least. We were provided with pizzas and a bottle of red wine. Pizzas were nice but nothing out of the ordinary. More surprisingly we were not offered a tasting at all! We were provided with a bottle to share with lunch, but I wanted a white instead of a red. Not only was I required to purchase it, despite not offering a different option with lunch, I wasn't even offered a tasting at all for a glass to purchase.
I enjoy tasting and purchasing wine, however as no one was offered a tasting (out of 11 adults) no one purchased anything.

The Kyneton Farmer's Market

Reviewed By Multimuffin - Melbourne, Australia

This is a small farmers market with the usual range of organic vegetables and boutique produce. With a makers market a few doors down the road selling local handmade goods, and plenty of interesting shops and cafes to explore in Piper Street, the market adds to a very pleasant morning exploring Kyneton.

Turpins Falls

Reviewed By ScarlettPearl - Victoria, Australia

Turpins Falls take a bit of work to find & be prepared to travel on unsealed roads. There is a small car park but no picnic or toilet facilities. Disappointingly there was a lot of rubbish littering the place and graffiti on every sign & post. Lots of warnings about the cliffs being unstable & to not jump into the water due to past deaths. A tree had come down over part of the track on the way down leaving branches to climb over and a fence half fallen. The falls themselves are quite pretty and it's almost surprising to find such an attraction in the middle of paddocks & farms. It's just unfortunate that this area isn't better maintained.

Kyneton Botanical Gardens

Reviewed By VW49 - Ashburn, Virginia

There are not many attractions in Kyneton but the Botanical Gardens are conveniently close to the downtown area. No admission fee. They are not elaborate but still well maintained and quite nice for walks and picnics. Blooms were underway for our visit in mid-November. It also overlooks the Campaspe River and there is a River Walk trail. A pleasant setting to enjoy nature and walking or a family outing.

Kyneton Mineral Springs Reserve

Travelling along Piper street exiting Kyneton you take a couple of minute drive until you will find this little gem of a stop. Directly opposite the Shell petrol station is a small park, where you can hand pump so real Kyneton mineral spring water.
It does taste different but you can really feel the bubbles and taste the minerals. Take a cup and even a bottle to bring some home.

Lauriston Press

As you walk in you are immersed on all sides with glorious colour and original prints. The most memorable for me were the charming cottage garden or field flower prints framed on the wall and the whimsical sculpture featuring a delighted woman with birds fluttering on her arms. You need a generous budget to bring some of these artistic treasures home.

While traveling, we especially appreciate the opportunity to attend services at local churches like this one. Our Lady of the Rosary in Kyneton is a beautiful bluestone church and was very welcoming. The Stations of the Cross were carved in Munich, Germany.
