My experience at Quinta de Lamoso was outstanding. This is a magnificent and laid back spot for horse lovers right in the heart of the Minho region, where tradition and rurality are still preserved at it's best.
Everything was absolutely spot on, the horses, the views of the farm, the family environment created by the always helpful Manuel, everything was absolutely 5 stars! More than a horse ridding club with all the formalities this is the kind of place where we could take time to relax , be in contact with nature and have a wonderful time with our familly, always surrounded by our favourite animals ;-)).
What's also surprising is that being a horse related activity the prices at this place are very reasonable, I presume as a result of being in a rural area, but definitely that was the cherry on top of the cake. I am usually quite sceptical about getting on board of these bargains - and I was somehow expecting some king of catch - but I can say with confidence that there is no catch here. It is a genuine family managed business where we spend an amazing time, and I am very positive that we will be back.

Santuario Nossa Senhora do Alivio

On our trip to the North Region of Portugal, we had a stopover in the small village of Vila Verde, this in order to bring a visit to the sanctuary of “Nossa Senhora do Alívio”. The sanctuary has being constructed into the XIX century and is an example of the religious arquitecture in this region, in the front we do have two bell towers, and in the middle the virgin Maria and child. The inside is simple but has some nice coloured glass windows. There is a great carpark in the front of the church, and all this together made is a good option to have a stopover.

Castelo de Lanhoso

Reviewed By makakito - Lisbon, Portugal

This is a unique place, in top of a natural huge stone. You also got the statue of virgin Mary protecting the city, a restaurant/coffee shop, an old church, and an old (small castle). We could enter the castle, but not the main tower, which was supposed to be open that day. The tower says in Portuguese it is closed 2 days of the week, Tuesday I think, and Wednesday, and then in English Tuesday and Thursdays, which is confusing at best, however it was a Friday and it was closed too. Nevertheless, a place worthy a visit if you are driving nearby Braga.

Bom Jesus do Monte

We took the funicular up, which was fun (tip: stand outside the cabin at the front) but the church itself was nothing special. View is far but mostly of the modern part of Braga with high-rises, so disappointing. Still, the view upwards of the staircases is impressive.

Puente de Ponte da Barca

Reviewed By Big-G66 - Bristol, United Kingdom

An interesting friendly little town with its iconic arched bridge - much longer than you would possibly expect. Some interesting bronze artwork near the river and some not so interesting metal and plastic 'cut-out' Roman Soldiers near the bank illustrating a legend about Legionnaires being afraid to cross until encouraged by their leader (depicted on horseback on the far bank).
Ample car parking - worth a visit.

Mosteiro De Santo Andre De Rendufe

Reviewed By chickandbeast - Durham, Canada

Mosteiro de Santo Andre de Rendufe was located just 5 minutes away from the rennovated farm house we stayed in in Amares Portugal. It is surrounded by vinyards and cornfields.
There wasnt really anywhere designated to park so we just pulled over at the side of the road. It is a once spectacular monastery but is now in need of a little tender loving care.
It could also benefit from some plaques noting its special historical significance to Amares not everyome can google on site.
It seems rather neglected.

Santuario do Bom Jesus do Monte is a beautiful complex with marvelous parks, the church, restaurants and hotel. One way to see it is to take the funicular till the sanctuary and then go down by the 600 steps stair which is also marvelous.
