Wilson Botanic Park

Wilson Botanic Park is an unexpected idyll in the middle of suburbia - well worth a visit for a quiet retreat or some more vigorous exercise. Personally I never go there without my camera (not just the phone) because the opportunities are brilliant and the light everchanging.

1 hour is plenty of time to move around and get a real work out.
favourite part for the kids on the sky trail is the flying fox.
a friend did have a party there that we were invited to, it was very disorganised so that's one thing I'm unsure about for my kids to have a party there.
if your not happy about your hot drink, make sure you ask for a better one.

Great venue for a wander around the grounds in the heart of suburbia.Totally run by volunteers it is a great asset to our community. Recently made the effort to go there for a walk and coffee.Unfortunately the coffee was like water, the chocolate milkshake tasted like pure milk and the two cakes were horrible.I am very sorry but this review is intended only to inform your orginisation.A good cafe with great food would be a real winner with locals and be sure to get return customers.Maybe some training on how to make proper drinks would help. While i do realise they are volunteers we still pay full price and deserve decent food for that price

Akoonah Park Market

I am usually not a market person, but I love this one. I go there nearly every 2nd Sunday to get fresh bread, fruits & vegetables which are from many local farmers, may not be cheaper than Coles or Woolworths but they are top quality certainly have not been waxed, polished & stored in cool room for a long period.
Near Shed B you can buy the best fresh juicy crunchy apples that they still has that natural white coating on them.
Also many stalls selling plants which are a lot cheaper than nurseries. If you have no interests in any of those things, you can always walk around eat hot jam donuts, enjoy your local community.

For end of year Xmas celebrations for work the boss's wife organised for us three girls a pedicure in the morning before having lunch at the Cardinia Park Hotel and a massage in the afternoon. Talk about being in heaven. The staff was fantastic and very good at what they did. I was a little apprehensive of having a pedicure as I'm not one for letting people touch my feet but I thought since the boss was paying I'd give it a go. After filling out a form about ourselves, we were led into a dimly lit room, with three chairs to one side with the foot bowls, and three massage tables with piped music quietly in the back ground. You have your feet soaking in a bowl while your feet and calves are massaged. They are cleansed, exfoliated and oiled up. After drying your feet we laid down on a bed with an eye mask over our eyes while they clipped, filed and buffed our nails. Oil was put over the nails. While the oil was penetrating into our feet, we were given both feet, legs and head massages. I fell into a light sleep (with a touch of snoring that woke me up!!). Our nails were painted a colour you got to choose. At the end there a light spray of blended aromas sprayed above you that had a lovely scent. One of the other girls said she has had pedicures before but nothing like this - we all were so relaxed and felt refreshed. The staff did an amazing job. Both the boss's wife and myself rubbed one of our toes when we put on our thongs causing the nail polish to come off. It was no trouble for the staff to do a touch up for both of us. We were left in a lounge area to have a drink and to relax before leaving.
When we came back for our massages the other two girls went off into a couples massage room as they were having relaxation massages while I had a remedial massage - I needed to get my aches and tight muscles worked on. You go into a dim lit room with piped music. You strip down to your knickers and lying on the massage table with a towel over you. Dominique was fantastic at doing this massage - she found heaps of sore spots on me and worked deeply into my muscles loosing them up. There were some really sore spots. Her massage was both deep tissue massaging as well as relaxation techniques. You are covered in a recovery balm afterwards to help with recovery of the deep tissue massage. Also a fine mist of blended scents is sprayed over you which had a lovely scent - similar to the pedicure at the end.
If you want to be pampered, go to Endota. If you struggle with the cost, ask your family and friends to give you a gift voucher to go towards one of their many pampering sessions. A girl has got to spoil herself every now and then.
We've all decided we're doing this again next year!!

If I was rating it on the park and botanical side of things I would say excellent. But the playground is very average and only has one toilet. Much better places nearby to bring kids. The playground is also only suitable for 4 years and up. Not the best for toddlers

I always thought this place was just where that had a market. It’s so much more than that. Popular spot for dog walking or picnics amongst the big native trees. Or you can walk along cardinia creek. TIP: most gates are shut to cars so you have too walk in. I usually drive in through side gate and follow road past caravan park and cattle showing area

huge complex that features softball diamonds, tennis centre and numerous sporting ovals. at the north of reserve is a wetlands track that is also a good spot to watch v/line and metro trains go past. the serenity of wetlands is ruined a little by constant noise from freeway.
TIP: you can park at footy oval to access wetlands but I like to park on Darling Way (caulfield crt) and access reserve via Hallam Valley trail. In the opposite direction the trail takes you eventually to Ray Bastin reserve
