Novoaltaysk (Russian: Новоалта́йск) is a town in Altai Krai, Russia, located on the right bank of the Ob River, in the lower reaches of its right tributary the Chesnokovka, 12 kilometers (7.5 mi) across from Barnaul, the administrative center of the krai. Population: 70,437 (2010 Census); 60,015 (2002 Census); 53,642 (1989 Census); 51,000 (1974); 9,000 (1939).
Barnaul (Russian: Барнаул, IPA: [bərnɐˈul]) is a city and the administrative center of Altai Krai, Russia, located at the confluence of the Barnaulka and Ob Rivers in the West Siberian Plain. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 612,401.
Altai Krai (Russian: Алта́йский край, tr. Altaysky kray, IPA: [ɐlˈtajskʲɪj kraj]) is a federal subject of Russia (a krai). It borders with, clockwise from the west, Kazakhstan, Novosibirsk and Kemerovo Oblasts, and the Altai Republic. The krai's administrative center is the city of Barnaul. As of the 2010 Census, the population of the krai was 2,419,755.
