Holland's most modern city began as a fishing village in the 13th century. It was developing into an industrial and trading power when German bombers destroyed the city center and harbor in 1940. However, Rotterdam's unique architecture now brings many visitors to bike around this urbane, cosmopolitan city. Old Dutch-style houses can still be found in historic Delfshaven, from where the pilgrims set sail in 1620. Cultural offerings from summer's carnival to classical music give Amsterdam competition.

Had dinner here with friends. 2 star restaurant. The food was excellent, although there was not one dish that really stood out, something we will remember a year from now.
What was disappointing was the service. I do not mind casual style, but this was often beyond casual, more indifferent.
Food was not well explained, order of (great) cheeses not explained, and twice food was served while some of us where in the bathroom.
If they level the staff with the kitchen crew, it would really merit the 2 stars

Food that carries you away, challenges and inspires. Always evoking curiosity as to what the next course will be. Food that re-awakens those long-forgotten memories, or creates new, unforgettable experiences. Food you experience together, discuss together, which connects you to others. The power of simple and pure, and with a deep respect for preparation and flavours. Always the unexpected surprise of the combinations, which are often created at the table itself. The art of omission, the greatest challenge of all. No-nonsense, perfect service, precisely as you would expect here.
Our dinner at FG restaurant was quite a disappointment. The food was good, but compared to other Michelin starred restaurants nothing special (a lot of rather typical "high class" dishes like Kobe beef or lobster with caviar, but there was missing a certain individuality and ingenuity). The service was quite bad, it seemed like they didn't have much knowledge about the food they were serving, and the descriptions were sometimes very bland (e.g. "this is the best olive oil in the world" --> i would expect something more sophisticated and nuanced of a restaurant in that price class). The choosing of salt, pepper and knifes (??) out of many different sorts is strange, as there is no good description of their specific quality/difference etc. This seems more like a gag, and we were rather bewildered that we had to choose stuff all the time (without having proper information about it) instead of enjoying the food. One waiter was also quite intrusive and the whole evening it seemed more like they did a show about how great they were (best olive oil, best beef blabla) than about making the guests feel comfortable. For example we asked if they could do something about the temperature as it was quite cold in the restaurant, and they said yes, but didn't do anything nor did they mention if something was changed etc. which seemed very inattentive. Overall a quite dissatisfying visit and not comparable to other restaurants of this price class. Wouldn't recommend.

Compared to the numerous restaurants in the neighbourhood, this one is fully booked. Our spirits rose as we entered the restaurant and saw the rest of our group nicely settled in and enjoying their wines.
This was the best part of our experience that evening. We had to constantly call for service. The first course came 1.5 hours after we arrived. The food was disappointing and the two serving sizes were miniscule and tasteless (I ordered fish and fish). At the end of the meal, the waiter brought two one person servings of fries and salad to be shared among the ten of us!! Same on you, Kwiezien! Only the dessert managed to saved the day.
I will not return.

We have received nice hospitality and were seated at the round table. Great service with a smile. The surprise menu had a large number of variation in tastes and included many ingredients, like fish, shellfish and meat. The Peking Duck menu offers different servings of duck partly prepared at the table. We have enjoyed!

If you're a fish lover and enjoy dining out in beautiful surroundings, add this restaurant to your list of must-go when visiting Rotterdam.
We had the pleasure of dining here last night for a celebratory dinner. We live in the area and pass the restaurant daily when out walking the dogs. Last night we were delighted to be on the inside looking out at the occasional passerby.
The food was really truly delicious with every course and each mouthful giving a different flavor. The wine choice was excellent. The service was also excellent as one would expect in a top notch restaurant.
We enjoyed every moment and at the moment of receiving the bill we found it to be very good value for money. Really not too expensive for what you get.
You will need to reserve a table.

A real treat in Rotterdam. Nice concept with real good food. The idea of serving several smaller dishes in one go appeals very much to me. And all of them are special. One is (but it's a matter of taste of course) better than the other, but it is certainly surprising and very well served. Very nice service, good atmosphere, surprising food and very affordable. Go for it!

We had a superb dinner here. We had the six course dinner and there was no disappointment there. Great taste combinations and not too much food. Accompanying wines were good and not too weird. Very friendly service. You can sense the love for the food and wines.
The restaurant has table d'hote principle, so you just choose the amount of courses. No à la carte.
The place attracts a nice mixed crowd which makes it even more pleasant.

With FG Food Labs, I am exploring the boundaries. Searching for how compelling a flavour can actually be, or how pure an ingredient can be. What is it exactly that makes you relive that one special memory? I want to see how far I can go with preparation methods, how I can get the best out of products. We have created an intimate and industrial location, in the midst of the trendy, new heart of Rotterdam. We are finally breaking the established ideas on background music and furnishings. We distil ambience here. As a gateway to the FG Restaurant, the Food Labs is an idiosyncratic hotspot where ideas are born. Yet, above all, it is here where I create a boundless restaurant experience, together with a fantastic team. Each and every day.
We entered FG Food Labs almost by chance, we were just looking for an eatery, but I knew about them and their “brothers” and was curious. We had a simple three dishes lunch menu that was absolutely flawless: well presented, delicious and surprising. A good extra brut blanc de blancs champagne and a dolcetto d’Alba completed the menu. For 70€ it’s absolutely correct.
