Madonnina del Pescatore

The velvety beach of Senigallia, the intense blue of the sea and the green hills of the Marches embrance and protect this fine culinary workshop whose leading player in the kitchen is the daring, theatrical genius of Moreno Cedroni. La Madonnina del Pescatore is one of the most innovative gourmet restaurants on the italian peninsula, which engages its guests in a kaleidoscopic culinary experience, seeking out the origins of the Marches that rediscovered and reinterpreted in a contemporary, entertaining style. The refined, minimalist and contemporary design of the surroundings is made even more welcoming by the dining-room service that is perfectly coordinated by the professional skills of Moreno’s wife Mariella.

Everything is so beautiful and carefully done. It is also very creative and very interesting. And none of this sacrifices taste. One of the most memorable things was the dessert! When you want a pristine fine dining experience that really shows food as an art and illustrates what the appeal of spending so much money on food is, you go to Madonnina del Pescatore.

The food is really great. I had calamari in a kind of potato soup to start with and the fritto misto as a main. Both dishes were excellent and the portions were very generous. The fritto misto, which can sometimes be quite greasy, wasn't at all. For dessert I had the gianduia Piemonte royal ball which was nice too. The quality and presentation of the food suggests it's quite an upmarket restaurant but, looking around, the decor, which is really basic, doesn't really match. Even the table could do with a bit of sprucing up. The rice in the glass bottle type ornament doesn't do it for me. The service is good and the staff are happy to answer questions. There were quite a few questions as the menu is quite complicated. There's an English version but some of the translations are a bit funny and the menu doesn't describe the dishes well; they prefer to give dishes elaborate names rather than actually saying what's in them and how they're prepared. I wasn't paying so didn't pay too much attention to the prices. All in all I was impressed with the food though and would definitely recommend it.

Really nice location, probably the best in the area.
Great food: choice may be limited (often meat only and no fish) but everything is fresh and top quality (I loved summer lasagne with truffle). Good wine list.
All resonably priced.
The owners are very friendly and deserve great success.

Hotel Ristorante Le Grotte

The restaurant is the real heart of the Hotel Le Grotte, founded in 1979 by the Bardella Family. Today the chef Alessandro, together with the owner Luciano, still continue to follow the same philosophy, preparing delicious authentic flavoured dishes using very genuine local products. Chease and cold cut, truffles, meat, are local and carefully selected. The offer is completed by the Marche wines, overall the white Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Matelica and the red Lacrima di Morro d’Alba. The new banquet hall is ideal for weddings, parties, meetings and congresses.

I would say the title is eloquent enough. Simply astonishing, probably the best meat we have eaten in a restaurant ever. Not only is the staff friendly and yet discreet, but the servings were so large we couldn't manage to finish a single-course meal! And the expense was quite low too! You may pay the bill, but it will be a priceless experience. You can hold me accountable for it, this is one of the best places in Italy to eat meat.
No, I don't work for them, but I wish I did even for free if it meant eating this well every day.

Biancamenta

Reviewed By mickgene - Linden, VA

Our recent family vacation in Porto Recanati involved eating gelato each day, at least once per day. We tried all of the 3 gelaterias within the couple of blocks housing Biancamenta. Although the servings at the others were more generous, the Biancamenta taste was far superior. When eating especially cold food, the taste buds quickly habituate and without tasting other things, the item being eaten becomes insipid or tasteless. This did not happen with the gelato I had at Biancamenta (pistachio and menta.) It was delicious the entire time. Also, the cone was preferable there, for my taste.
