This is a bohemian meat market located in an obscure neighborhood on an obscure road. But it's worth finding! Likely the best a smoked meat in the southeast part of the United States. Many other options such as cheeses and food imports from Eastern Europe. Make sure you stock up before Thanksgiving and Christmas as the lines become unreasonable.

A Friday Family dinner out turned out badly . Having been seated in their bar area with no warning that within an hour we would be subjected to overly loud singing and guitar. What restaurant does this and not warn the patrons ahead of time. The place was busy so we didn’t bother asking to be moved. Server took so long to bring straws , I went to the bar to get them. No silverware provided so I went to the adjacent table and grabbed 3 sets.
Food ordered was ok , as usual.
Such a disappointment in this place again, giving it a second chance but not much improvement.

I come to this location since it is close to home. Service is always good but a little slow, but then again they are hand dipping the cones. There aren't a lot of places to sit so it you have a large group you may be better off getting it to go.

Johnny's Steaks & BBQ

Reviewed By GetOutOJail

I preface my review with two facts. First, I have written many restaurant reviews on all kinds of food and strive to give couples, solo diners and families the fairest idea of what to expect from a meal. Second, this is a childhood restaurant that my grandfather took me to as a kid some 35 years ago and where I hadn't eaten in over twenty years so in fairness, I think one star in this review goes to the fact that I wanted this restaurant to be as great as I remember it being - no small feat for a restaurant not to lose what made it successful after 35 years.

Johnnys BBQ has changed names to my knowledge at least twice in the 35 years it has sat in downtown Powder Springs. It still inhabits the same simple structure and looks other than being named differently, pretty much exactly as it always has. But what clearly hasn't changed with owners is the menu and more importantly the recipes.

Johnny's is the quintessential southern country establishment inside. Dark woods, metal signs, animal decor, even a train running around the ceiling. There's a shop and everything from western wear to firearms and knives for sale near the registers. But don't let this fool you, you can walk past all this, seat yourself at a table and a waitress will mosey over to get you huge drinks and take your order off menus kept at the table.

I can tell you for a fact, the pulled pork, the Brunswick stew and the French fries have not changed in all the years since I was a kid. The barbecue is the wet kind, nice and flavorful and with a smoky flavor. The hot sauce on the table is perfect to give it a kick too. The fries, whole potatoes shoved through a slicing machine by hand and then dropped in a fryer. But the pinnacle for me is the Brunswick stew. Now, this stew will NOT be for everyone, just like everyone likes different kinds of barbecue. It's not tomatoey and not a soup with chunks of veggies floating in it like most barbecue places serve and call "stew". No, it's a real stew - thick and meaty and substantial, with bits of pork and potato and I don't even know what else blended in. But it is heaven.

Portions are a little smaller on the pork platters than I remember so this may be one thing that has changed but it may be because prices are so low. It's really inexpensive for a family meal, which is refreshing. And contrary to other reviews I've read online, our server was amazingly attentive. Yes, you seat yourself and menus are at your table like a Waffle House. But the service was fine. We didn't have to wait at all for a table on a weeknight and the food came out hot and quickly. How often can you say that all those things happen at the usual chain restaurants?!?

Anyways, these are my observations after my first return visit in 20 years. I'm not an easy reviewer and I've given some negative reviews but for classic southern barbecue in a genuinely untouched-by-time establishment, you really can't find a better reason to drive to Powder Springs than this. It's worth a trip both for the history and for the food. As with all barbecue places, it won't be everyone's cup of tea (especially neat freaks or people with sensitive political 2nd amendment issues) but for feel-good comfort food, it's hard to beat in my book.

Likes:
1. Location: There are not many true restaurants in this area of Austell that aren't budget fast food (i.e. IHOP, Waffle House, Sub shops, McDonalds). So this eatery is a welcome addition to the community.
2. Food: Very large portions in addition to the complimentary chips and salsa served before you even order. The grilled fajitas are complete awesomeness, as is the taco salad served with it. There are refills on soft drinks and tea.
3. Service: I was greeted immediately upon entrance and seated just as quickly.
4. Menu: The menu is extensive, covering everything from burritos and tacos to salads, seafood and combinations of the above.
5. Plenty of free parking.
6. Opens at 11am, seven days a week, unlike many other restaurants these days.
7. Prices are on level with quality and portion size of the food.

Dislikes:
1. Decor is a little bit cheesy in comparison to the top notch food and service, but nothing to detract from the overall rating.

{This may very well become a regular spot for me.}

Johnny's New York Style Pizza

Johnny’s is proud to bring authentic, great-tasting New York Style Pizza and a variety of housemade dinners, craft beers, subs and more to the neighborhoods we call home. After a small-town start in 1977, we’ve grown to over 70 pizzerias across the Southeast. Our dough is made fresh daily, never frozen, hand-tossed and topped with the best ingredients we can find - premium mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, fresh-packed tomatoes, hand-cut veggies, and Italian sausage and beef with no fillers. Then each pizza is brick-oven baked until it’s golden brown, always with our signature soft and crispy crust, and served hot at your table. At Johnny’s, we grew up enjoying and perfecting pizza, and now we’re sharing our passion with everyone we serve.

Ordered the garlic knots and the large 3 topping pizza. Had extra cheese, red onion, and artichoke. The pizza arrived hot and was delicious. It did have areas of missing cheese on it. The waitress made it right. She took a couple of bucks off the bill. The garlic knots are deep fried dough with butter garlic sauce. Under 20 bucks. I visited today which is Sunday and they had the football games on the big screen TVs. I posted pics.

Macland Wings and More

Reviewed By PrincessZ44

I went there today because I took the back way home and football starts at 4 and they have wings...... it was empty when I walked in but they had ALOT of call in orders. The lady that took my order wasn't very welcoming and the female OWNER was on the phone loudly speaking in her native language. I ordered mild wings that came with a side so I got rice and asked for veggies to be added for $1. The flats (my favorite ) were VERY small but the drums were normal size the rice was delicious to only have bellpeppers and onions as veggies for $1
