We had dinner here on a Sunday evening during our visit to Port Austin. Relaxed, casual atmosphere. Very clean and welcoming. We had made reservations and were promptly greeted. We were seated pretty quickly too. We ordered soup, salads, meatballs, ribs, chicken and brownies. I can't say enough good things about our meal. Excellent. We all throughly enjoyed every bite. Nice size portions, well presented, right temperature. All our meals were expertly prepared. I felt this was priced right. This is a little on the pricey side but worth every penny. Service was slow but with nowhere to go but back to our room, that was okay too. Not too far from the city of Port Austin. If your in the area and want a really nice meal, this is the place.

Ice Cream Parlor, Gift Shop Open Mothers Day weekend to end of October Home made Ice Cream and Stroh's Ice Cream Biggest Cones in the Thumb Made in Michigan Gift Shop
Make no mistake about it. They dip the largest cones we have ever seen anywhere. If you love ice cream and are in the area, you should defintely go to this place.
There is another ice cream business about a block away but their cones are smaller. They had an extremely busy weekend over Memorial Day weekend. They are located out in the country east of Port Austin. If you order a "Single" you get 3 huge hard-packed dips. Ask for a dish or bring your own if you order a waffle cone otherwise it will probably end up on the ground! They offer many flavors. It was so good we went back another day while in the area.

Nice place but needs some ambiance. When you walk in you expect to see remnants of a bank and it was a little disappointing. The food is a little high but it was tasty. 3 friends went and we each purchased something different. I had the wrap with strawberries and it was good but kind of dry. My two friends ate their food too but none of us was so impressed that we said, "oh we need to come back." I have never been for dinner so maybe it is something more. All in all, the wait staff met our needs, were attentive and the food was decent. A little pricey for what we got but maybe that was due to a lack of places to eat. The bathroom was clean though but only 1 stall.

We have 32 flavors of hand dipped ice cream. We also have candy and some gift items. Go back in time to 1884, to a beautiful and peaceful country setting with plenty of parking and outdoor seating, including a country porch where many love to socialize. Fast and friendly service.
It isn’t often that two shop’s offering the same fare open in a small town at the same time. But that is what is happening in Grindstone City. While a relative new comer; Rybak’s Ice Cream and Candy Shop is across from White Church Gallery and operating in a historic building, built by Aaron Peer in 1881. Rybak’s offers high end ice cream, homemade candy and assorted gifts from local artists. The shop once headquartered the Grindstone operations which the town is famous. The building has been beautifully restored.

Breakfast is served all day, and the food is made fresh to order. Home made breads, potatoes, sausages, burgers, chili and so much more. There is a little bit of something for everyone, and Carol always has something new on special.
Stayed in Port Austin and saw this in Trip Advisor so we decided to stop for lunch. Very cramped space. People were friendly but very slow service. After we were greeted, it took an additional ten minutes to take our orders. We then waited close to an hour for the food. We ordered patty melts, ham and cheese sandwiches, Spinach and asparagus soup and vegetable soup. The soups came out relatively quickly but were barely warm. The rest of the food took close to an hour. The two people at my table who ordered patty melts both got gristle in the burger and thought they broke a tooth. Thankfully they did not. We won't go back.

We eat here every time we come to town! Best pizza hands down! Great service. Never not been happy with the food or server!

Since this the off season we seemed out of place and apparently surrounded by locals. Breakfast was very large. The bacon was very thick and chewy. The eggs were slightly overdone and the toast was over buttered. So, an average breakfast but the portions were so big we left quite a bit uneaten. Biggest draw back is the fact they don't take credit/debit cards.

Do check out the fish and chips! Fish fried to perfection. One of our crowd thought the perch was a little soggy on the bottom. The salmon looked good. Most of all, the service and atmosphere were exactly what you want for a night away from camp. We really enjoyed it.

Very friendly atmosphere and . Family orientated
Stopped in for lunch expecting nothing but fried bar food. Surprised to find a broad menu where "everything is homemade except the fries". They will even cook the fish you catch on one of the many nearby charter boats . Wife had "THE BEST" fried mushrooms ever, light batter and full size mushrooms. I had a patty melt that even an 18 year old football player wouldn't be able to finish. Fresh, great food and very friendly staff.

I called about a week ago and spoke with an employee (Kaleigh) about renting one of the cabins. My husband is working on the windmill farm and the county campground where he has been staying is closing for the winter. One of the wind farm workers who had rented the 3 bedroom home told my husband they were giving a reduced rate for the workers. There is only about 1 more week of work before the project is done. Kaleigh called one of the owners and asked about this special rate. The owner she spoke with quoted a reduced rate. I told them they would take one of the cabins at that rate. I called back on 2 different occasions to make sure that everyone was on the same page so there weren't any problems when the guys check in after work tonight since the bar/restaurant is closed on Mondays. When I spoke with Maddie she said she was calling the "owner" to make sure that the rate quoted was correct and not a per person rate. I told her that I was told it was per night and not per person. She said she would call me back if that wasn't correct. She never called back. Well they got there tonight after work only to be told that the quoted per night rate wasn't correct and they were going to be charged double the price quoted. I'm beyond pissed. Tonight Kathy who claimed she was one of the owners and was "in charge of the cabins" informed me she would have "never" agreed to that price I was given. I have no idea which "owner" agreed the reduced rate in the first place because I didn't ask for a name. Funny that Kathy was one of the two people besides Kaleigh that I spoke with to confirm that everything was all set for check-in. She made a comment about the cabin being right on the water, etc... The guys are not there for vacation and could care less that it is on the water not to mention it is basically winter. All the guys do is shower and sleep. Now I am scrambling to find the guys a room.
